With some time to let it all settle, Kersen was pretty glad to not be the vampire queen of London. Though he wasn't sure exactly how things would shake out with Eric Northman in charge such as it was, for right now he was just content to try to let some things go back to normal. And back to normal meant trying not to look over his shoulder, for a while. It meant going back to just running his bar. And sometimes, it meant being a performer first and a vampire second.

He went full pinup that night, a blood red pencil dress with a black scarf knotted at his neck, fishnet stockings and red pumps, dark wig styled in careful pin curls. Red lips, dark eyes; bare, tattooed arms. He was a not-giving-a-fuck kind of girl tonight, and it gave him an idea for something to sing. Well, and having seen something from American telly online recently.

He even came out holding a stack of bar menus like they were textbooks.

"There are worse things I could do, than go with a boy or two..."

It was fun, a sitting on the piano kind of song, and he liked showing off that he actually had pipes. He didn't really lip sync anymore, unless he was at an actual drag show. It had been kind of fun in the 90s though, he'd even dressed like Cher once or twice...

"I don't steal and I don't lie, but I can feel, and I can cry..."

Rizzo, though, now there was a woman who deserved a tribute.

He had barely finished singing, handing the piano back over to the pianist who started playing some Sinatra, when he spotted something he hoped he wouldn't be seeing anymore. A vampire leaning over a human, a stare that was all too familiar. Kersen walked over calmly, grabbed the vampire by the arm, and said, "No glamours in my bar."

The vampire looked like he was about to argue, then thought better of it. Maybe partly because Kersen's grip on his arm was getting progressively harder. "My mistake." When Kersen's grip loosened, he threw some money on the bar and walked away.

Kersen smiled at the human woman, who seemed to be shaking herself out of a daze. "Bad sort," he said kindly. "Drink's on me."

Then he turned back around and looked out at the rest of the bar, hoping there wouldn't be anymore trouble tonight.

This wasn't the sort of place Angelique typically frequented. A bit posh for her; a bit public for new clients. But some of the girls from the show she was working in had been last weekend, and positively gushed over the classic atmosphere of the bar, and especially the owner who favored the bar with a song now and then. Having heard that gorgeous rendition of "There Are Worse Things I Could Do," Angelique understood why. She was also glad she'd come alone, and not with a gaggle of theatre girls.

She wore a sweet ruffled top and wine-red lace skirt with a pair of heeled boots that had been an absolute steal in her size, with her hair piled up to show off the little garnet earrings that set off the whole ensemble. She had been sitting at the bar enjoying the song, and watching the proprietor deal with an apparently unruly customer with great interest over her glass of wine.

"He had her under quite the spell," Angelique observed dryly, her voice low and confidential. "You saved her from a tearful morning, I'm sure."

It was only the metaphorical sort of spell that Angelique had meant, but it was enough to draw the gorgeous singer's attention, and that was all she needed. She slipped her hand graciously into Kersen's, a very light clasp, delicate-boned. "Such a pleasure, Kersen. Angelique," she replied, all of the delectable French accents on the vowels. Only after she'd spoken her name did she release Kersen's hand.

"Your performance was utterly ravishing, you know. Grease doesn't get done here very often. So American. But you took the song out of the high school girl's world and gave it to everyone. Absolutely divine."

Angelique's expressive dark brows quirked up, because she was that exact girl. "The answer to that question is always yes," she agreed, with a bright little smile. "You're the house sommelier as well as the enchanting entertainment and guardian against patrons with wicked intentions? My word, how do you have time for it all?"

Angelique sat forward on her seat, a lovely curve in her back as she laced her fingers just beneath her chin. "I trust whatever you suggest implicitly," she assured, dark eyes twinkling first at the bartender, then at her host.

Kersen really was lovely, with that utter abandonment of what was appropriate and what was expected, without ever venturing in to the territory of vulgar and flashy that Angelique so abhorred. She couldn't even summon the phrase 'drag queen' in her mind, because Kersen seemed to transcend every stereotype so effortlessly. Angelique couldn't decide if she wanted to touch him or be him.

Angelique's attention centered fully on Kersen, not rudely, but because this was her host. "A few friends in a production I'm working with told me that I absolutely must visit Jazzmin and witness her proprietor first hand. They simply gushed about you. I have to say, they barely did you justice."

Angelique's smile made her dark eyes fairly sparkle with delight. "I'll try to be as attractive to your single patrons as humanly possible, but I can't imagine I'll be able to do my job adequately when they can gaze at you. That dress is stunning on you."

Angelique took the second glass, but only held it for a moment, more interested in what Kersen had said. It wasn't surprising -- many people had to learn to sew when they chose clothing not typically crafted for their bodies -- but Angelique did love to talk about her craft. "A fellow tailor? I've been sewing since I could thread a needle and hold a thimble. I just adore beautiful things, and ever so much more when I don't have to empty my pocketbook to have them."

Eric had walked into the bar while Kersen was singing, and made a point not to be too obvious. Knowing he was there might change the performance, and he wouldn't have wanted that. You might think that it was difficult to go unnoticed when you were as huge as Eric, but it was all about the way you held yourself. He usually commanded attention, but sloped shoulders did wonders for not drawing the eye. In fact, his entire body language seemed to say that he wasn't someone worth looking at closely.

He settled himself at the bar, in Kersen's peripheral vision, and ordered a glass of blood, keeping his shoulders hunched. He straightened up once the performance was over, but Kersen's attention had been drawn by something else, and Eric was all too curious about it to go and interrupt. Instead, he listened in, doing nothing to hide his interest in the little scene. Discretion was over.

No glamours. That was a very impractical rule, but this was Kersen's place, and Eric wouldn't interfere. Of course, he would also glamour anyone he wanted, but only if necessary. There was no point in antagonizing Kersen.

"I have some news, and it was time I saw your bar," he answered conversationally. His eyes had dropped to Kersen's legs when he had dropped them, and he had done nothing to hide it, but he had not seemed to react either way. "It's one of a very few where I can have a drink." In a glass, that was.

"Oh, sometimes it hurts a little," Eric answered, the glint in his eyes matching the almost smirk on his lips. But he was here for a reason, and after a beat, he asked, "Is there somewhere private we can talk?" Discussing vampire business in the middle of a crowded bar? No. Discussing his own business where he could be overheard was also a no, most of the time.

"I'm fine," Eric replied as he followed, glass in hand. Drinking cold blood in glasses wasn't his idea of a good meal, after all. He looked around the office when they entered it, and took a seat in one of the chairs as he conversationally asked, "Do you forbid all glamours in your bar, or just the use of them to get a willing meal?"

Forbidding all glamours while serving glasses of blood seemed overly complicated.

Which implied that Kersen himself could not, which was good to know. Eric nodded acknowledgment, then moved on to the reason why he had come - beside wanting to check out the place, and learn more about Kersen. "We've caught Michelle. The trial will be held Sunday night."

"At the Diamond," he went on, leaning back comfortably in his chair. "2 am." Needless to say, he expected Kersen to be there.
