Q was missing.

It wasn't unusual for him to not come home, or for he and Bond to pass like ships in the night. But when he didn't answer his texts or emails and when Bond found out he hadn't been to Q Branch in two days, he began to do some digging on his own. He certainly wasn't as adept at Q at hacking and such, but he knew his way around. He still could manage a few new tricks. And so he hacked into the CCTV near the last ping of Q's GPS and watched intently. What he saw was Q being snatched off the street on his way to a tube stop, likely on his way home.

Bond had lost precious time and knew Q could be anywhere. He resolved not to panic. Instead, he steeled himself and began to work methodically through contacts and back channels, trying to track down the white van. He finally narrowed it down to a rental agency at Heathrow.

Going there only got him so far. A bogus credit car, a fake name. But he did know when it had been dropped off and he began to pull up flight data of planes that had taken off within a four hour window of when the van had been returned. He was casting a wide net. He knew he needed help.

And so he opened his phone and scrolled through the numbers until he found someone he thought could help. Hitting call, he rang them.

"This is Bond. I need a avour. Meet me at Piccadilly in a half an hour."

Nothing more, no details. He made the call and then went to the meet.

He'd find Q if it was the end of him.

(A bit different of an OTA...especially looking for spies but if Bond knows you and he thinks you'd be of use then do tag in! Excited to kick off a new plot!)

There weren't many who could have Victoria's assistance with no more information than that, but more than might be expected... more than she could count on one hand, which was saying something in their profession. It hardly needed to be said, James was one.

She turned off the oven, leaving the unfinished scones inside to be dealt with when she had the time. Apron and ballet flats were traded for a purse kept near the door for just such occasions and a pair of sensible boots, and Victoria was out the door in less than five minutes. On the way to the meet, she rang an acquaintance to beg off dinner plans for the evening, and she still arrived with time to spare. James would've known in picking the location it was conveniently near to Victoria's home, assuming she was there.

She took in her surroundings without appearing too, seeming focused on her phone as she positioned herself where she'd be seen – let people think she was looking for those Pokemon if they wanted – and waited for James to approach or signal.

Victoria took James in with a glance as he approached, and kissed him fondly on the cheek. But fond or not, her "Tell me," was nothing but serious.

Q had told her he believed he was being watched, but there was only so much Victoria could do with nothing more than that to go on, and he hadn't known more.

"You won't have to." James should know that, but it was worth saying still. "Let's see what all you know, or suspect, and then get your young man back."

Another nod. "If you believe I need to see it, my home isn't far. Or somewhere more discreet which isn't much further. Or if you have a target destination and reason to think moving is more important, you can fill me in on the way." Victoria didn't say if he wanted to be on the move. Q had been taken, of course, James would want to be going after him, but they were both too well trained for that.

Victoria smiled softly and gave his arm a gentle squeeze. "Understandably so, dear. But we'll get him back." She had complete faith in that, and James needed her faith as much as the drink she'd pour as soon as they were back at her place.

Rather the one she'd let him pour himself. The return trip was as quick as the one Victoria had made to meet James, and once inside, she led straight to the study. She held out her hand. "The flash drive?" With the waiting hand, she waved toward the shelf of bottles and glassware. "There's scotch, or whatever else you're likely to want there, if you want to get that drink while I take a look at things."

James had probably gone over the footage 'til his eyes crossed, but fresh, more objective eyes might see something he missed, and Victoria needed an idea of what they were dealing with.

Victoria's eyes didn't leave the screen as she scanned through the files. "I may need to call on a friend or two for some assistance, depending on what we find. Or where we go from here." Friends, not contacts or sources. Meaning people she trusted, with the implication James could trust them too, if only for getting Q back safely.

Victoria picked up her phone, still looking from one file to another on the screen, her instincts certain there was something there she could feel but not put into context enough to see.

"I'm sending you some files," she said to the person on the other end of the line, no greeting or explanation. "Have Marvin take a look at them, will you? ... Yes, yes, I know, dear, but you know how he is. But this is rather time sensitive, and I am, for the moment, in London, so I need a go-between for his paranoia. Maybe more, depending on what we find. I've a missing person problem."

Another longer pause as she listened and saved the files that kept nagging at her to heavily encrypted virtual dead drop. "Give Sarah my love, and call me as soon as you and Marvin have anything."

Then to James when she ended the call. "There's something there, I just can't see the missing piece. Marvin's mental, but that may help in this case," she explained.

Oliver had never heard about the Six agent after his last encounter with Q, but he had not put their conversation out of his mind. So he was not that surprised to find himself being rung by the man, and simply answered, "I'll be there," before hanging up.

He finished his coffee, letting his hangover be a thing of the past, and made his way over to Picadilly, hands in the pockets of his trousers, eyes scanning the crowd as he waited for the double-0.

Oliver frowned slightly at the news. "Tell me what you know."

"Do you simply distrust Six with this, or outright suspect them?" Oliver asked, then immediately waved the question aside as inconsequential. "I'll put an analyst I trust on it. What's the plane number?" Constance was entirely trustworthy.

"Give me everything you've got," Oliver replied, holding a hand out for the flash drive of intel he expected the agent to have brought. "She's very good at what she does."

Oliver nodded his agreement, already stepping away to ring Constance. He explained the situation to her plainly, then plugged the drive in to let her download its contents. Her next question had him step back towards the other agent. "Do you know what he was working on? On or off the books."

Oliver repeated this to Constance, then thanked her and hung up. "She'll ring back as soon as she has something."
