Epimetheus wasn't like Prometheus when it came to powers and magic. He had power, sure, but he'd never mastered it the way his twin had. He hadn't needed to, really. He'd never been trapped in the mortal realm after all, he came and went as he pleased- Using portals. ...Portals he generally had others open for him. However, since he was traveling alone lately, the only way to pop back home for a bit was to crack one open himself, using the only spell he knew to do so. A very blunt spell, honestly, that Prometheus had scolded him time and time again for using. 'Spells like this aren't like garage door openers, you know. They don't just open one portal, they'll open any in range,' the other titan had scolded, though all Epimetheus had said in return was 'What's a garage door?'.

That had been some time ago, but Epimetheus had used the spell many times since. He'd never noticed any ill effects personally, and didn't have the foresight to see how it might go a bit wrong. So this morning when he'd popped home to see Pandora, he'd gone on as he always did- Oblivious to any trouble he might be causing elsewhere.

(Portals are opening and closing all over london, letting things into the city from other places, times, ect. The sky is the limit here! Have anything you want slip through into the city- Or maybe let your pups go stumbling through one themselves? The choice is yours! This post will be open all next week, so tag in and then check back often! As always, we trust you guys not to go too crazy with this power, but please, no wrecking the city or doing anything that might cause gamewide issues without checking in with us first. Also, like any plot, feel free to have your pups sit out or be completely oblivious to the chaos. Assume that Torchwood and the like are keeping it out of the papers. ;) Have fun!)

He'd felt the portal in his basement open, even from several blocks away. Yves was sensitive like that, at least when it came to his home. What he couldn't sense, however, was anyone nearby who could have opened it- Which was, honestly, a tad concerning.

If no one here had opened it, that meant either some idiot had opened several portals at once somewhere else- Or, worse, someone on the other side had opened it.

Scowling, Yves had set off back to his home, stalking down the sidewalk- and then stopping abruptly in the street.

Across the way he could see a faint shimmer in the air- Something most mortals wouldn't pick up on, but anyone with a nose for magic would spot instantly. It was like a glimmer of sunlight dancing across the clearest pool of water, but it was gone in an instant. Another portal, to another place. A portal he'd never noticed or felt before. A sweet scent drifted from it, cloying almost, and the fae's frown relaxed slightly as interest won out over annoyance and he made his way closer. Reaching out, he could feel the portal had shut, but a glance at his feet showed a faint trail of something almost like water and footprints.

"Well, that's probably not good," he muttered.

If you knew where to look, and Prometheus very much did, you'd find portals all over London. Portals to different times, different worlds... All tightly sealed, all hidden carefully. After all, portals were dangerous things, and thankfully hard to craft. Sure, some occurred naturally, but most were created by people with a need- Clever people, usually. The sort of people who had the sense to put them in safe and secret places- And to seal them up with pretty little magic locks.

But any portal could be opened if you tried hard enough- And if you were dumb enough, you could open several at once with brute force. ...But oh, you'd have to be so very stupid to do such a thing. A proper moron.

So when Prometheus had found the portal behind his shop wide open and pulsing, he'd known exactly which moron was to blame.

"Epimetheus," he growled. "That stupid, arrogant little... twat."

A very plump looking octopus wearing a tophat and tails began to slink through, and Prometheus towered over him, practically snarling as he spoke.

"Absolutely not. No. GO. HOME," he growled, causing the cephalopod's tentacles to curl, and a tiny bit of ink to escape, as it shuffled back to where it had come from. The titan was not in the mood for whatever nonsense might be lurking on the other side. Not now, not when his twin was out there making yet another mess.

Torchwood, honestly, was just full of weird things. There were shelves and shelves of it, and while Valentine did like bringing them out of storage to Jack's desk, eager to hear the other man's stories of where they'd come from and his personal experiences- Sometimes he just liked to wander and look things up in the archive himself. Val could spend hours down there, poking through boxes, reading case files. It was heaven to him, honestly. So much knowledge, so much of the unknown... It was a wet dream come true.

That morning Val had gone deep, letting himself get a bit lost in storage as he poked through various items, until he'd found something interesting that he'd just had to try. Sure, they weren't supposed to take anything out of the building but... He knew what he was doing, right?

Down an empty alley, Val stood with a device that was marked as 'unknown' in its file- But Val had recognized a few of the glyphs on the side right away. They were all time related magics, and to the best of his knowledge, it seemed the device could help locate cracks in time- Maybe even amplify them. It was exactly the sort of thing that might help Jack with his current personal project, and any other day would have been the perfect thing to work on. However, with so many portals open at once, many to other places in time, it seemed to be going a bit mad as Val tried to follow its signal.

"Come on," he said softly, tapping the little box on the side and watching the blinking light. "All I want to see is a little crack, just proof you work," he muttered, oblivious to the portal that had opened right behind him, and the very frightening man who'd stepped through it. His face was creased with age and caked with dirt, and he appeared to be wearing heavy shackles on his wrists.

Val heard the soft clink of chains, and caught whiff of the man's stench- But it was a beat too late. The heavy chain was around his throat, and though he fought and snarled, Valentine couldn't quite break away.

The portal opened like an aperture, or a flower, unfolding around Felix on a small stripe of grass and flowering bushes between two busy streets. He had paused only long enough to glance at his phone due to a startling number of buzzes and alert sounds it had decided to unleash all at once. With his head angled down, he didn't see the portal open between one step and the next, and by the time his magic lurched in his blood and showed him he was somewhere else, it was too late.

The slip of urban green-space unfolded into a broad forest, blue-green and dim, sunlight filtering through the trees and scattering across the forest floor. The leafy canopy parted in a remarkably straight line, trees cleared to make way for the long, silent wood-and-metal rails of a train track lain directly through the otherwise quiet woods.

Felix's phone had gone dark, and he dropped it back into his pocket, whirling around the way he came. Someone else stood there, but before Felix could open his mouth to demand answers, a sound split the sylvan quiet.

Something low, something deep, something like a rockslide and something like the turn of a key twenty times larger than a man. Also, it was ticking.

Fin had been filming all morning, take after take of dashing through the park with his costar's hand in his, as they were chased by something that would be edited into the shot later. After four hours of screaming and reciting dialogue that sounded like mostly nonsense to him, Fin had decided to spend his lunch taking a walk to the quieter side of the park.

He was on his third cigarette, and hadn't actually noticed Felix at first- Not that he'd tell Felix that. He'd been in his own little world though, pondering his next project and the radio interview he was supposed to do the next morning, only snapping out of it when his magic reacted to the sudden shift around him.

Instantly on guard, Fin could feel it like a shield around him. Only then did he realize he'd nearly walked right into Felix- Who was now staring past him.

"What the hell just happened?" Fin asked, frowning, then turning to see just what Felix was looking at. "...What the hell is that?"

The voice resolved into a familiar one, and Felix's mind catalogued it subconsciously as Fin and friendly and not a threat. The sound creaking through the forest was very different, and absorbed the majority of his conscious attention.

Something was wrong here. The rail tracks cut a swath through it, a space of clear energy, but beyond that space the woods hung heavy with something... something for which Felix had no name. He couldn't think about that right now though. In addition to the enormous grinding sound, there was now a massive rustling in the trees.

The ground shook for the space of a heartbeat.

"I don't know," Felix said, "but it's coming closer."

No sooner were the words out of his mouth than a massive column of metal -- brass and copper, gears and rivets -- emerged... stepped... out of the tree line.

For Curnen it was not that she had suddenly fallen out of the world and into a forest but where she had done so. There were parts of Cloud County where you just stumbled and fell into slow time. But in those familiar woods she had always known exactly what dangers there were, natural and supernatural. She'd known how to tread so as not to piss off the King of the Forest and his coyote servants, even when she'd been insane.

This, though?

"What the fuck? What the fucking fuck?"

Fin automatically took a step back, crashing gently into Felix as he dropped his half-smoked cigarette into the grass.

"Is that a bloody robot?" he asked, glancing at the red haired wizard and frowning deeply. "Felix, that looks like a sodding robot."

The air didn't quite feel like the parts of The Other Side he'd visited- Though he supposed that didn't mean that wasn't where they were. It was a large place, after all. Fin couldn't place anything familiar though, from the taste of the air to the grass at his feet- This was new to him.

Felix shot the girl a sharp, disapproving glance -- it couldn't be only because of her choice in language, could it? (It was.) He held up a finger in indication that she should hush, a flicker of the blue eye tattooed on his palm visible for an instant as he tried to listen.

Something felt deeply wrong about this forest, beyond the tearing metal sound muffled by wood and leaves. He had no name for it, but he had felt it before. It had crept up his back and enshrouded him on Halloween, forming into the spectre of Malkar.

Before he had time to answer, there was a violent crash, as a tree simply fell straight over across the tracks only a few meters from where they stood. Felix jumped, and whirled around, then lost his footing and stumbled off the railroad tracks toward the edge of the woods. "Something's here," he hissed.

"How in all the hells should I know?" Felix snapped, backing up, his eyes huge and round as the rest of the thing started to come into view.

It was a robot, or at the very least, it was a largely metal mobile figure with two arms, two legs, and a squat shape atop that could have resembled a head. The word robot would indicate something of finesse and purpose, something to which one could ascribe some manner of human characteristics. This was a creation of brass and gears and clockwork, twice as tall as Felix himself and proportionately wide to support such a mass, crafted by hands that clearly had never soldered a circuit nor connected a battery.

With two glowing ports, something between headlamps and eyes, at the top of its head, the automaton swung around with a ground-shaking thump, and focused down on Felix. The wizard attempted to put his hands up, perhaps in some kind of attempt to communicate, but the metal creature made a club of its half-articulated right hand, and lifted it up with clear intention to bring it down on the wizard's head.

"Well you brought us here, didn't you?" Fin snapped, assuming whatever had happened was something to do with the wizard's wizarding.

The ground shuddered and Fin looked unsteady as he used his magic to cast a shield around them. It wouldn't last long, but it would, hopefully, buy them some time to think- And temporarily prevent the machine from smashing Felix's pretty skull in.

"Felix, I don't know how to fight robots!" Fin insisted, one hand held out to keep his magic steady as he held the shield in place for as long as he was able. "The things that attack me generally have actual faces and very scary looking swords."

"I didn't bring us here!" Felix argued, ducking even though he could sense the shape of the shield. Barely a minute had passed since he'd been on the street in London, and he hadn't time to think. He flung out one hand, his own magic seeking for anything to latch onto, anything to give him information about the thing now trying to kill them.

The automaton's fist fell away from them, sliding off the shield Fin had created. The ground shook again when it landed, and then the sound of grinding gears came again, along with the ticking of the clockworks within the metal barrel of its body. It had to right itself again before it could attack.

As it straightened up, Felix caught a glimpse of something glowing and grinding in the gaps between the construct's head and its body. It looked not unlike the inner workings of an engine. "Fin!" he called, stumbling back a few steps to be out of the thing's reach. "It's like a car. You stop a car by turning off the power. We have to cut off its power source!"

There was something so amusing about a city boy telling her how she should be out here that Curnen smiled a little and let him. She reached out only once to be sure he was steady when he stumbled, but didn't hold on when he'd found his footing.

"Even if there wasn't," she answered low, "Don't go into the trees." She'd felt it, too, and it would eat them alive. Maybe not quickly, but it would.

The ticking was growing louder, like someone had dropped a clock tower into the middle of the wilderness.

Right, so, they had magically wound up somewhere that wasn't London, and a robot was trying to smash them. ...Right, good, brilliant. Taking a calming breath, the fae forced himself to think rather than panic.

Fin let his vision go dark in favour of keeping the shield up a while longer, and though he couldn't see what Felix was seeing, he nodded a little.

"Well, I can either keep this shield up for you, or I can help you switch off the power- But I can't do both," he said. "This shield is taking all my power- I've had to let my vision go dark, Felix. ...If you guide me, I can protect us both while you work on disabling it's power source, but if you need a second set of hands, I'll need a moment for my vision to return first. ...Usually it takes about thirty seconds."

After what had happened in Cardiff Jack had set up sensors so he'd know if anything in the vaults might go wandering. He wasn't concerned about things being stolen,, but he was all too aware of how tempting things could be, even to the most stalwart of employees.

By the time stamp on the alert he knew it could only be Val, which disappointed him some...but he was more concerned for the man's safety. Some things in Torchwood could be dangerous. He'd locked in on the GPS of Val's mobile and tracked it to an alley. He parked on the street and sauntered in, not worried at all of being accused of stalking the man.

It was a good thing he'd come, he could see. There was Val being strangled by a man who was surely not a citizen of London. Or, if he was, not from 2017.

"Val!" he shouted and went running toward the pair.

Val had managed to slam his head back against the attacker's nose, and the pair had eventually wound up on the ground. The chain was still digging into his neck, and Val's face had turned quite red. The wolf was growing worried- The Wolf was itching to take over. It could end this.

Val, on the other had, had no interest in fatally wounding his attacker. The man seemed to have come out of nowhere- For all Valentine knew, the man could be as confused and afraid as he was.

Jack's sudden appearance made for a good distraction, and Val slammed his elbow hard into his attacker's gut.

Jack had his hand on his pistol, but held off. Val's elbow was enough to make the man's hold on the chain slip and it went slack around Val's neck. Rather than shoot, Jack rushed in to try to wrench the two apart. For his effort the man flung a fist and smashed Jack in the nose.

"Mother. Fucker," he exclaimed.

It was enough to let Val slip loose, and he found his feet quickly before lifting one boot clad foot to keep the man pinned to the ground.

"Are you alright?" he asked Jack, his voice still a bit raw- Though that rough growl it sometimes held was still there as he turned his attention back to the man who'd attacked him.

"Who the bloody hell are you?" he snarled, more wolf than man for a moment.

"Fine," was his fast reply. It had hurt, but it had surprised him more than anything. Jack recovered quickly from injury.

The man on the ground struggled under Val's heel, growling and frothing. At this angle Jack could get a good look at him- the dirt, the scruff, the wild eyes. And his clothes. Jack focused on his clothes.

"He's not from here," he said.

Hearing that news had Jack flip open the strap on his wrist to get some readings. The screen absolutely lit up.

"Let me hold him down. You get that thing and see if it'll tell you anything before we do anything rash."
