Q's interest in one Finlay Alexander Flynn, actor, writer, and possible supernatural being, began and ended with one Thomas Hector Schofield. AKA, one of a handful of people Q considered a friend. However, despite not being a main focus of interest, Q did keep tabs on him- As he kept tabs on most people who came in and out of his life, and the lives of his friends. It wasn't an all consuming hobby or anything, but in quiet moments Q like to track them down, one by one, and just have a quick peek in to see who was up to what. Glances at browser histories, a glimpse of CCTV. Most of it was boring, but now and then something of note would catch his eye, urging him to watch a bit longer.

Often it was something too personal to get involved in, like a glimpse of Hex's boyfriend getting high behind a club, or one 'Captain' Jack Harkness very definitely keeping tabs on his current lover. However, tonight was less personal, and more unsettling. Most of his surveillance of Finlay Flynn was fairly mundane lately. He worked, he went home, or stopped off for a pint. It was nothing like it had been a year or so ago, when his presence had seemed to cause all sorts of interference with CCTV and various other bits of tech. So Q wasn't sure what it was that made him watch the actor for more than a few moments tonight. Something just seemed off.

Flicking between cameras, he watched the young celebrity do a fair job of avoiding the paps, before looking up the actor's usual route home and frowning at how off course he was tonight. A glance at his calendar and texts showed no evidence that he'd be headed anywhere but home this evening, and yet he seemed to be winding around London in the most impractical way. Not a scenic route either, really. Not unless you liked looking at skips.

He'd been watching for a solid ten minutes before the cameras finally caught a glimpse of something odd following behind him, a strange shimmer that seemed to warp and distort the camera image just a touch. Finlay wasn't just off course this evening, he appeared to be evading someone- Or, rather, something.

Frowning, Q pulled out his phone to text James, and perhaps his contacts at five- However, before he could even start to type, Finlay was simply gone. ...Vanished. Rewinding the footage, it was as if the man had simply blinked out of existence, and the young Quartermaster found himself reaching for his coat as he sent out a text to every contact he trusted and headed out to Finlay's last known location.

(OTA! Fin is missing, and will prolly be missing for about a week IG time. Feel free to assume Q texted your pup if they know one another well, or to simply spot him on the street searching for Fin. Late tags and slow tags are all very welcome, and if you want to be more involved with Fin's mini plot, feel free to nudge me in email or on slack. <3)

Bond caught the text and noted the location, then headed there immediately. The Aston purred through traffic and just as he arrived he saw Q closing in. He slid the car into a spot and hopped out.

"Is this where it was?" he asked, all business. Fin was no great friend of his but if Q was concerned, Bond was concerned. "Tell me more of what's happened."

Bond was a bit more accepting of the fact that strange things could happen. Aliens, magic, they weren't so far fetched, though they were never his first thought.

"Perhaps your feed was faulty," he said. "Electromagnetic glitch? It could cause it to seem like he vanished."

"No. But it does seem the most plausible option," he said. "Its not as if he suddenly became invisible...or blinked out of existence."

Bond sighed softly and looked around. It wouldn't do to be overheard.

"Yes," he admitted. "But if that's the case there are other divisions we could ask for help. People with more knowledge and experience with unusual goings on."

"I won't let that happen," he said. "And, yes, I do think we should have reinforcements if this is something out of the ordinary."

Bond snorted softly, sure Q did just that. All of Jack's shiny tech, not to mention the man was handsome, left Bond no doubt that Q could go off course.

And so he stepped away a bit and pulled out his mobile to dial Harkness. He got him and explained the situation. It was funny- it sounded like Jack had a personal stake in it, given how concerned he sounded when he said, "I'll be right there."

"He's on his way," Bond said. "Remarkably few questions. He's just coming to help."

"I can see it. But what's that?" he asked, pointing to the strange feature. It was ever so distorted, like looking at rocks at the bottom of a clear pool. "I've never seen anything like that. Well, there was the Vanquish, but even though you lot did your best it wasn't like that."

Angelique had attended a cast party for the play she was working for that night, in full Victorian costume, as had everyone in the cast and crew. Why not, when they had labored so over such elaborate clothing? Tucked and cinched and painted for the gods, she had just parted ways with the rest of her friends outside the venue and begun the search for a cab when she thought she caught sight of Fin a block or two away.

She started down the street, balancing her hope to catch up with him with the height of her boot heels and the restrictive foundational garments this dress required, when he simply... vanished. Between one blink and the next, Angelique couldn't even be certain she'd seen him.

Within moments, she caught up to the last spot she knew she'd seen Fin, and stopped there, frowning as she looked up and down the street. So, there stood Angelique, inches away from an unexplained disappearance, looking absolutely flummoxed and quite like a lady removed from another time.

She spun in a swirl of skirts when she heard quick footsteps nearby.

Angelique glanced over the stranger with an assessing eye. He didn't look dangerous, but she knew very well that looks could be deceiving. Still, it was best to lead with a smile, and so she did. "It does seem that way, doesn't it? Of course, he's bound to be around here somewhere, isn't he? Unless the aliens have come at last."

Her eyes glinted merrily; clearly, Angelique did not see the severity, nor the strangeness, of the situation just yet. There was more to the world than met the eye, but it was all so new to her still that she did not think of the supernatural world as something she might encounter every day.

Who sat on the pavement to use a laptop? Didn't everyone have phones nowadays? Angelique tilted her well-coiffed head at him curiously, but he persisted, so she elected to accept the minor oddity.

"I thought, perhaps, just for a moment, actually... I thought I had something in my eye." Rather, that her lashes had un-glued and she was about to have to fix them on the street. Angelique moved a few steps away to the exact point where she had last seen Fin, just between the lamp-post and the edge of that exit door.

She inhaled sharply, then sighed and spread out her hands, allowing her fitted jacket to gap a bit. "Ah, it's ever so much cooler right here. These skirts are monstrously hot."

Angelique wasn't quite ready to leave the cooler spot on the street... which, now that she thought of it, didn't have any obvious source. There was no grate in the pavement or alley positioned to channel a breeze. It was just refreshingly chilly in this one spot.

Still, she had to get closer to see the screen properly. As she leaned toward it, her hand fluttered up to her right eye as if to brush something away, and Angelique realized that was exactly what she thought had happened a few minutes ago. "Yes, that's it. That's it precisely. I would have thought it would look differently, recorded."

She turned curiously to the man behind the screen, then. "We have a physician in common? Pardon me, but how the hell do you know who my doctor is? That's private information."

Angelique's spine stiffened, but strangely enough, it didn't seem like this new stranger was going to condemn her. Yet still, how the hell did he know? Fin's disappearance, this man's matter-of-fact unveiling of her private business... Angelique wasn't stupid. She could interpret the wealth of clues he was giving her.

"You're the spy," she retorted, very certain. "You're the one with an eye to everyone else's business. Surely you don't need my help."

Angelique pretended to glance at her wrist, where clearly no watch was fastened, then back up at him pointedly. "About five minutes ago. If you're asking when was the last time we spoke, I imagine it was a few weeks past. We bump into each other now and again. The last time we really spent much time together was around Christmas."

If she was a little sharp, somewhat on her guard, that was only to be expected. This man knew who was paying her for sex, and she didn't even know his name. "Fin's a good friend. I am invested, but I'm sure you already know, I'm not the only one. If you need emotional ties, there are at least a dozen held deeper in Fin's heart than I."
