"I hate Halloween," Spencer muttered, stabbing her straw into her frozen pumpkin spice frapp as she watched a pair of witches walk by, and then winced as someone in a very unsettling mask stared her down on their way past.
"Great, because it's not creepy enough to be stalked by someone who has to hide in the bushes- Now they can walk right past me in broad daylight. Awesome."
She stabbed her drink again, her foot bouncing slightly as she tried to resist the urge to have a bite of the very special brownie she had tucked away in her purse. After all, she was trying not to fall down that particular rabbit hole, even if it did only give her a little buzz. ...It would be just her luck that tonight would be the night when she somehow over did it. ...Being paranoid and stoned on Halloween would be like inviting A to make trouble for her.
The thought alone made her more anxious, and as a boy tried to jump out at her wearing a Jason mask, Spencer snapped. Reaching out, she snatched the mask right off the stranger's face.
"You think you're scary? I promise you, I am way more terrifying than your party city costume!" she growled.
