Felix was attempting to get himself home before the Halloween madness got too far out of control. The masquerade of the evening might have been diverting had he not been plagued with a gnawing uncertainty all day, culminating in an overwhelming desire to get home.
He wasn't going to make it there, not tonight, but he didn't know that yet.
Instead, he was held up by a slowing of foot-traffic outside a shop handing out candy, at which Felix rolled his eyes to the sky and sighed. A voice sounded nearby, oddly familiar, though in his impatience and pre-occupation, Felix couldn't quite place it. "I very dearly hope not. One of these per year is quite enough."
He turned his head to catch sight of whomever had been speaking, and blinked in distant recognition. Something about the young man's face was familiar.
