She sounded sad, and her fingers loosened in Fin's hand, in case he wanted to let go. She didn't think he would. Fin had been a good friend to her. Some things were difficult to handle, though, she knew.
"A dressmaker's stipend doesn't pay the bills, I'm afraid. I'm working the oldest profession in the world, too. I'm not going to be anyone's 'only one.'"
