Kersen sometimes did this thing where when he was feeling his worst, he tried to look his best. Elaborate drag when he was the most down, for example. Like maybe he could force cheerfulness with sequins and lipstick.
This time, he couldn't seem to muster up the energy for drag, though. What "look" said 'I just found out a lover is a serial killer'? Particularly coupled with 'what does this say about my taste in men'? Finally, he'd just gone with the forced cheerfulness: dark purple leather pants and a shirt (gifted to him by an employee years ago) that read OF COURSE I'M PRO-GAY, DO YOU THINK I WORK THIS HARD TO BE AN AMATEUR GAY in bright rainbow colors.
... also he'd started smoking again. Which was a little ironic since he was pretty sure that any effect they had on him was purely psychosomatic.
However, at the moment he was having a smoke break outside his bar. It was fairly early yet, just past 9pm. The streets were still full, lively with people leaving restaurants and shops, heading into bars and theaters. He liked this time of night, where the world was still alive. Wished he could experience more of it.
Some asshole walking by threw a homophobic slur at him, and he was briefly, stupidly tempted to flash his fangs as a threat. Instead he said, "The most fabulous you'll ever see, honey," and flicked the cigarette to the ground. Luckily it was the cowardly sort of asshole, and he just stuck up his middle finger and kept walking.

He waited for Fin to slide onto the seat beside him, and then put his hands on the keys. He rolled a chord to start, and started singing immediately, assuming Fin would join in.
"Birds do it... bees do it... even educated flees do it..."

The song ended, and Fin grinned a little as he rested his chin on Kersen's shoulder.
"One more?" he asked.

"One more," he murmured. "I'm getting a bit drunk."
And, feeling a bit sexier suddenly, he went into "Fever."
"Never know how much I love you, never know how much I care..."

Which was bullshit. Fin was many things, but shy wasn't one of them. Not when he was on stage or with people he trusted- And given that he was currently the centre of attention and sitting beside a good friend, there was no reason for him to be anything short of cocky. No, this was definitely an act. Though it was clearly for the crowd more than Kersen. He was playing the part of the sweet and submissive fae, and he could almost taste the envy in the room. ...Though sober he might have wondered if that was something Kersen would even want. Did he want the other vampires to envy him, or was that trouble just waiting to happen?

And when he noticed the vampires around them paying so much attention, it wasn't so much the envy that Kersen suddenly appreciated about this situation. It was about being seen as dominant, even for a moment. He was well aware of some of the reasons that many in the vampire community hadn't respected him when he'd tried to take control. And even though Eric was in charge now, Kersen wanted to maintain as much respect as he could.
He put a hand on Fin's leg and leaned in to his ear again. "Is that a yes? Because there are probably some lines I shouldn't cross when it comes to having an audience."

"Well, it certainly wasn't a no, was it?" Fin purred, meeting Kersen's gaze, then wetting his lips. "Take me wherever you like. I've nowhere I want to be but with you right now."

He stood and grabbed Fin's hand. "Perfect, let's go downstairs." Before he was tempted anymore.
no subject
"But it's so nice to have an audience," the fae prince laughed. "Want me all to yourself? So selfish. ...I like selfish."

"Not tonight. Tonight I'm with you," Fin purred, letting his magic lace the air again, enjoying the slight hint of danger it brought with it.

"Wouldn't say no to that," he laughed, though he didn't hesitate to follow Kersen downstairs to his private room.

"God you smell good," he murmured, and leaned into him, inhaling against his neck.

"Do you want to taste me?" he purred. "Do you want a bite?"
