The pain was enough to make Hex's eyes water and he grabbed at his chest in a feeble attempt to protect himself. And the Fin turned him and he saw Willy.

Their eyes met and the pain stopped. He stood up straight and squared his shoulders, then looked at Fin.

"I have to go. Happy Valentine's day," he said in a dreamy voice and then walked away.

As he did, Willy crossed the street, causing a car to stop for him. He was lazy about it, taking his time until he was on the sidewalk with Fin.

"I would rather like to have today with you alone," he said, expecting his actions to be explained so simply.
