harrowgate: (wizard)

Felix got even more awkward for the two seconds that Curnen reached out to touch him, but he settled down once she pulled her hand back. The sense from the edge of the trees seemed to creep closer, as if it had caught the scent of wizard and wanted to give him a lick. There was nothing there, nothing visible to the naked eye, but Felix had the strangest feeling that if he had time to concentrate, he would be able to see... something.

He had just opened his mouth to ask how the tree had fallen over, when suddenly, he didn't need to enquire at all. An impossibly tall column of copper, brass, rivets and gears stepped out of the tree line, bending at a knee at least as tall as Felix himself. His head tilted back, and back, as the clockwork beast slowly stepped into view.
