Epimetheus wasn't like Prometheus when it came to powers and magic. He had power, sure, but he'd never mastered it the way his twin had. He hadn't needed to, really. He'd never been trapped in the mortal realm after all, he came and went as he pleased- Using portals. ...Portals he generally had others open for him. However, since he was traveling alone lately, the only way to pop back home for a bit was to crack one open himself, using the only spell he knew to do so. A very blunt spell, honestly, that Prometheus had scolded him time and time again for using. 'Spells like this aren't like garage door openers, you know. They don't just open one portal, they'll open any in range,' the other titan had scolded, though all Epimetheus had said in return was 'What's a garage door?'.

That had been some time ago, but Epimetheus had used the spell many times since. He'd never noticed any ill effects personally, and didn't have the foresight to see how it might go a bit wrong. So this morning when he'd popped home to see Pandora, he'd gone on as he always did- Oblivious to any trouble he might be causing elsewhere.

(Portals are opening and closing all over london, letting things into the city from other places, times, ect. The sky is the limit here! Have anything you want slip through into the city- Or maybe let your pups go stumbling through one themselves? The choice is yours! This post will be open all next week, so tag in and then check back often! As always, we trust you guys not to go too crazy with this power, but please, no wrecking the city or doing anything that might cause gamewide issues without checking in with us first. Also, like any plot, feel free to have your pups sit out or be completely oblivious to the chaos. Assume that Torchwood and the like are keeping it out of the papers. ;) Have fun!)

Alcuin was good at following instructions. When Felix shoved him he ran almost without thinking, but couldn't stop himself from looking back at Felix to make sure he was okay (and hoping that he was following behind). At which point he tripped, going sprawling into the grass.

The movement of Alcuin tumbling down drew the automaton's attention, it seemed, as the thing's bucket-like head swiveled in his direction. The heavy ticking sound quickened as the creature lifted its arms and started forward. Felix had no idea what it was capable of doing, but he wasn't about to let the thing do it to Alcuin.

He had never been taught anything that could qualify as combat magic, but the spell that leapt most quickly to hand was the one he used everyday -- only fueled by a sudden surge of defensive fury. Felix lashed out, and a bright green arc of crackling light exploded at the center of the automaton's massive body.

Fear grabbed Alcuin's chest as he saw the monstrous thing turn towards him. He began to scramble to his feet just as he saw Felix unleash something at it.

The green bolt of light exploded against the thing's glowing eyes, the blast echoing in its metal body like a thunderstorm inside a tin can. Metal shrieked and boomed and massive gears ground to a halt, and then the metal creature was falling forward, heavy and fast.

"Alcuin!! Get out of the way" Felix shouted, stumbling and tripping over the wooden rail ties in his haste to get away from the mountain of metal falling toward them.

There actually had not been many times in which Alcuin's extensive training in tumbling had seemed directly useful, but now was one of them. He rolled out of the way of the creature as it fell forward, gasping as it came within inches of hitting him as he sprawled on the ground, panting.

The thing fell to its knees first, and then the rest of its body slammed to the ground against the tracks. The impact shook Felix off his feet, and he sprawled to the ground in a far less graceful fashion at Alcuin's side.

Strangely, aside from their gasps for breath, the forest was otherwise silent.

For perhaps thirty more seconds, Alcuin stared up at the unfamiliar sky and let his heartbeat come down to a reasonable level. Then he turned his head and looked at Felix. "Are... are you all right?"

The trees stretched leafy canopies overhead, and while the blue sky stretched out beyond them, shadows hung heavy beneath the branches. Felix's ears were ringing after the monstrous sound of the automaton crashing to the ground, but he heard Alcuin's voice beside him.

"I'm not hurt," he answered, which was all he could really be certain of. With great effort, Felix managed to get a hand flat enough against the ground that he could push himself up to something resembling a seated position. "Are you?"

Alcuin sat up as well. He shook his head. "I'm fine. Thanks to you. That was... remarkable."

Felix leaned forward and buried his face in his hands for a few seconds, taking a deep breath. "I... supposed if it was powered by something, that would be near the great large glowing eyes."

"It appears you were correct," Alcuin said, and put a hand on Felix's arm. "I'm glad you were here with me. Ah... wherever here is."

Felix dragged his fingers down his face to peek at Alcuin over the tips of them. Did Alcuin see him as... brave? Strong? In control? Felix didn't feel any of those things right then, but it would be unbearable to let Alcuin down, to let him be afraid. "We passed through something like a doorway," he explained, in as steady a voice as he could muster. "Wherever we are, it obeys the laws of physics, and therefore will need to return us to where we came from, eventually."

It was astonishing, how calm and rational his voice sounded. He barely recognized it.

Alcuin absolutely thought that he was brave, strong, and in control. His already high opinion of Felix had only gotten higher.

"And what do you think we should do in the meantime?" he asked.

Felix lowered his hands, and placed one over Alcuin's hand on his arm. "We should not go into the woods. I can't explain it, but there is something... something there," he told Alcuin, quiet but serious.

"Now. I admit some curiosity about the thing that was lying in wait for us. Shall we see if we can take it apart and learn from it?"

Alcuin's face brightened, and he looked positively eager. He did enjoy learning new things.

"Yes," he said, nodding. "Though let's be careful."

"Absolutely on our best behavior," Felix promised him. The excitement on Alcuin's face drew a small smile on his own lips, and he climbed up to his feet. After a moment, he offered a hand almost shyly to Alcuin to help him up. It was the sort of thing that didn't usually occur to him to do.

Alcuin took his hand and got gracefully to his feet, and then moved with Felix over to the contraption, which seemed so much scarier now that it was immobile.

"I wouldn't even know where to start," he said, crouching down and peering at the thing.

On closer inspection, the back of the metal head and body were covered in moss and lichen, in dead leaves and torn vines, as if it had been lying face-down in the forest for some time. The head was shaped something like an upside-down bucket, and on either side of the head there were odd protrusions. Felix took a few steps to either side, considering, then tipped his head and asked, "Darling, does it look to you like it has horns?"
