Gathering Post - Christmas Eve Party

Merry Christmas!

You are invited to celebrate the season with Finlay Flynn and Willy Silver.

 

When: Christmas Eve (5pm – Midnight)

Where: Making the Modern World - The Science Museum

Upon entry you'll be given a ticket for one free drink. All drinks after that are 5 each. There will also be a free buffet in the dining area.

 

Dress code: Casual, but tidy please!

 

Raffle: Come wearing a festive sweater and you will automatically be entered into a raffle to win a 65 inch TV.

 

Donate: Bring three tins of canned food to be donated to the local food bank, and receive an extra drink ticket.

Look forward to: A live DJ, live music, an appearance by Santa, gift bags with deluxe swag, and the company of old and new friends!

 

(OTA! Happy holidays! If you know Fin, Willy, Phouka, or Winter, feel free to assume they gave you an invite. If not, you can say your pup got an invite through a friend of a friend, someone who knows someone, ect. It IS invite over (no gate crashing pups please, Fin's a giver and would want everyone to feel included), but the pups hosting the party are pretty active and I believe they know almost everyone in the game. And the people they don't know surely know people who do. Even if you only met them once, you got an invite somehow! This gathering post is open all week, and beyond!)

"The channel, me calendar, and just...the best mate I've ever had in me life," he said. His love for Fin was clear. Not romance, no, but a deep thread of real caring.

Jag smiled at that last bit, clearly honestly happy to hear of anyone speaking of Fin that way. Bloke deserved mates like that. "So he put you up to doing the channel, did he?"

"He helped me set it all up with our manager, Stanley. We were talking one night about those awful books everyone seems to be reading and how they get so much wrong, so we came up with the idea for a how-to video and the idea took off. I never thought I'd be a vlogger but I guess I am now. I've had a lot of positive feedback and I owe Fin for giving me the push," he explained.

"He's kind of amazing, isn't he," Jag agreed with a half smile. He didn't need Fin to be his best mate to know that; it was obvious, from every time he'd met him.

"He really is. How long have you two been mates?" he asked, sipping his glass of water.

"I first met him about a year ago," Jag offered, which didn't really answer Hex's question, but he wasn't sure when Fin had gone from that decent bloke he knew to a proper mate. "Didn't see him again for months, though." After that whole blinding and kidnapping business. What a shit year for Fin.

"It's been a nightmare, too right," Hex agreed. "But he's better now, and things seem to be sorting themselves out. So do you watch me show or did Fin just mention me...?"

"He mentioned you, and your show - so I started watching it," Jag answered, raising his eyebrows and doing his best not to feel self-conscious about it. Yes, this implied he was interesting in the content of the show in question. But it was fine. Nothing to feel awkward about.

"Oh, brilliant!" Hex said happily. For him there was absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about. "I enjoy making them and I think the crew has fun, too. Have you learned anything you didn't know before?"

"Tons, actually," Jag admitted with a quick purse of his lips. "I've only ever been in one," let's call a spade a spade, "relationship like that, and it's made me realise - it wasn't exactly... 'safe and sane'. I mean, I'm all right, it's just. It's weird, looking back on it now." Why was he saying this to a bloke he barely knew? He made a face. "I need a cigarette." He patted his pockets and found his pack. "Do you smoke?"

"I don't, no, but I'l come with you if you like," he replied. As they began to walk he said, "You see, that's exactly the reason I started making the videos. Those books...they promote abuse. It's not safe and sane, it's not romantic. I wanted to be able to put something out that showed how if it's done right it can really bring people closer together. I believe it could strengthen a relationship. A lot of trust involved," he said.

"Yeah," Jag agreed, a little awkwardly, as he thought of Val, and his heart clenched. But he forced himself to focus on Hex, rather than that. "It's a good thing you've done," he added, giving him a small smile before slipping outside, onto the smoker's patio.

He belatedly realised he didn't have a lighter, and walked a few steps ahead so he could light his cigarette with his back to Hex, mimicking the gestures of one using a lighter and putting the imaginary item back into his pocket as he turned back to him.

Hex was not the most observant person sometimes and while Jag lit up he had gone to the edge of the patio to look at the sky.

"Full moon for Christmas. How cool is that?" he asked, looking up.

"'s gonna be full tomorrow, actually," Jag answered as he walked over to join Hex - before he thought about how it might sound. "I mean, it's still beautiful now." Now he sounded like a weird bloke with a moon obsession, perfect.

"It is," he agreed with a nod. Hex turned to look at him and had a small smile curving his lips. "So what do you do? Are you an actor, too?"

Jag chuckled at the question, and shook his head. "No. Street performer. Fire juggling, mostly."

"Oh! That's boss, mate. Do you know Fin's Will then, too? He's a busker, sings and such. Bloody good musician," he said, though he knew that it was unlikely. It wasn't as if all street performers knew one another in a city the size of London.

"I haven't met him, no," Jag answered, shaking his head. He hadn't known that he busked, too. He wouldn't have expected it from a fae. "He pointed him out earlier, but I haven't managed to get a hold of him yet. What's he like?"

"He's friendly. Smiles a lot. I don't think the man ever has a bad day," Hex chuckled. "And anyone who is friends with Fin he seems to instantly pull them in, yeah. Yeah, he's magnetic. That's how I'd describe him."

Jag wondered if that was a thing all Fae had in common; the Phouka certainly had his own kind of charisma. But he wasn't certain Hex knew about this, and it wasn't his secret to potentially reveal. "Good word, that," he noted, with a small smile. "I really ought to say hi before the end of the party."

"You should. Go over there and say hi," he nodded. "You'll like him, I think. I'm not sure anyone doesnt, yeah. I'll talk to you later. Maybe Fin can bring you to the set one day."

"Sure, yeah," Jag agreed easily, taking his last drag off his cigarette. He paused, and met Hex's gaze with a half-smile. "It was good meeting you." He seemed like a nice bloke, and he clearly loved Fin.

"Good to meet you, too," he grinned. "Have a nice night, mate. I'm sure I'll see you round."

"Definitely," Jag agreed, putting the cigarette out in an ashtray on his way back inside.
