Gathering Post - Christmas Eve Party

Merry Christmas!

You are invited to celebrate the season with Finlay Flynn and Willy Silver.

 

When: Christmas Eve (5pm – Midnight)

Where: Making the Modern World - The Science Museum

Upon entry you'll be given a ticket for one free drink. All drinks after that are 5 each. There will also be a free buffet in the dining area.

 

Dress code: Casual, but tidy please!

 

Raffle: Come wearing a festive sweater and you will automatically be entered into a raffle to win a 65 inch TV.

 

Donate: Bring three tins of canned food to be donated to the local food bank, and receive an extra drink ticket.

Look forward to: A live DJ, live music, an appearance by Santa, gift bags with deluxe swag, and the company of old and new friends!

 

(OTA! Happy holidays! If you know Fin, Willy, Phouka, or Winter, feel free to assume they gave you an invite. If not, you can say your pup got an invite through a friend of a friend, someone who knows someone, ect. It IS invite over (no gate crashing pups please, Fin's a giver and would want everyone to feel included), but the pups hosting the party are pretty active and I believe they know almost everyone in the game. And the people they don't know surely know people who do. Even if you only met them once, you got an invite somehow! This gathering post is open all week, and beyond!)

"I'm saying," Dutch said with a soft smile, and cupped Em's cheek with one hand, "even you might pick up on that, and don't be thrown by it. It's the way he is."

Em smiled back, leaning into the touch slightly. "I'm pretty good at knowing people don't mean anything by it, flirting with me."

"You're pretty terrible at knowing anyone's flirting with you, or was that just me?" Dutch answered with a smile, and leaned in for a quick kiss. Fuck anyone who might have an issue with two girls displaying some affection for each other.

Returning the kiss, Em didn't have time to feel uncomfortable about the public affection and didn't much care if someone had a problem with them both being women.

"I'm pretty terrible at knowing anybody means it," Em corrected, which was part of why she was so bad at noticing in the first place. "You just said even I'd pick up on it from him."

"I said you might," Dutch semi-agreed, with a small smile. "I just don't want you feeling uncomfortable."

Em didn't feel like she needed to say she would probably be mildly uncomfortable meeting anybody. That was to be assumed, and she was used to moving past it, although sometimes better than others. "You like him. That's what I need to know."

"He's a great guy," Dutch confirmed with a nod. And, sometimes, girl.

Em almost reminded Dutch she thought Em was pretty good too, but it would either sound like fishing for compliments - and she wouldn't - or risk an disagreement about Em's merits she didn't want. So rather than say so, she stretched up and kissed Dutch's cheek. "Is this a meet him tonight, assuming he's still around, thing? Or a meet him sometime?"

"It's a meet him tonight if you want to?" Dutch offered, then smirked. "We can have fun dodging him otherwise."

"Up to you," Em said. The grin was small, but being with Dutch usually made her smile whether she thought about it or not. "He's your friend."

"Then let's see if he's around," Dutch stated with a nod, trusting Em to have told her if she did not feel like it.

Em slipped her hand into Dutch's, lacing their fingers together. "Lead the way."

Dutch smiled at her, then looked around for Jade and then indeed led the way to him. She smiled at him when he saw them approaching, and nodded towards Em by her side as they stopped in front of him. "As promised. Em, this is Jade, Jade, Em."

By the time Dutch and her girlfriend found him, Jade was pleasantly buzzed. He had no interest in getting smashed tonight, but the carefree buzz of intoxication was allowed on a night like this.

He smiled brightly and extended a hand. "Lovely to meet you, Em."

"And you, Jade," Em answered with a shyer smile than his, as she shook his hand. "Happy Christmas."

"Enjoying your evening?" Dutch asked him with a smile.

Em was shy. It was adorable - and very much the opposite of Dutch. Who was also adorable, but in a very different way. "Immensely. Sparks fly. Though probably that's static electricity from my jumper."

Em grinned at the 'Ho Ho Ho', and what Sabine probably would've said about the word play. "Some people just have an energy about them," she said, her own brand of quiet humor.

"And the jumpers don't hurt," Dutch grinned, for all that hers was knotted around her waist by now.

"Best idea of the evening, these things," Jade replied cheerfully, tugging at his own jumper. "By the end of the night people are aching to tear them off themselves, each other. I'm waiting for that show, certainly." His eyes went from Dutch to Em as he spoke and ended on Em with an amused wink.

"Don't hurt?" Em repeated, grinning too. "Some of the sweaters people are wearing tonight are painful to look at." Teasing Dutch was easier than knowing how to respond to Jade, other than the hint of blush she couldn't control anyway. And she hoped it it was clear she didn't mean Dutch or Jade's sweaters, how she phrased it.

"I don't know, I'm enjoying them," Dutch replied, grinning at Em. "All right. What's the worst you've spotted? Most painful? Make it a good one." As in a terrible one, obviously.

"Hmmm," Jade thought on it. "It's a tie, I think, between the one with the actual Christmas lights and the one with the Christmas balls hanging from it." He searched the crowd to find them and pointed at the one that had wool balls hanging all over his jumper. "But that one has missed a great opportunity for a pun by not hanging two of those on his crotch. So that detracts some points. What about you?" He asked Em.

"You must've missed the one with the upside-down snowman," Em answered. She'd seen it on her way in, but couldn't find it now. "It had Christmas balls 'creatively' placed near Frosty's nose."

In looking for that one, she caught sight of the most painful sweater she'd seen. "There, the girl dancing, black sweater, purple lights, lots of feathers. That one may count as torture."

Dutch laughed when she caught sight of her. "Oh my god. I'm kind of in awe."
