Q moved quickly as well, jogging down to the station and slipping onto the first train that came his way. He didn't stay still for a moment, moving from carriage to carriage in hopes of getting lost.

The moment they reached Waterloo he was off again, doing his best to blend into a group of businessmen.

Bond spotted him right away and moved to intercept him. He fell in with the businessmen and eased in next to Q.

"Right on time. Are they behind us?" he asked without looking at Q. In his suit he blended right in.

"I'm not sure," Q admitted, glancing back and then shaking his head. "I don't see them. Perhaps I lost them?" he suggested hopefully.

"Let's get to the car and see if anyone comes up," Bond said, hurrying him up to the street and then to the car parked nearby.

Q remained close, visibly nervous despite his calm tone.

"So far, so good," he murmured as they reached street level, glancing back now and then as they walked. "How far's the car?" he asked.

"Right over there," he pointed, looking around as well to see if anyone stood out. He didn't see anyone who looked particularly focused on Q. He hit the fob and the car chirped and unlocked. Bond slipped into the driver's seat.

"Belt on," he said once they were in.

"Wait, look," Q said, nodding at the side mirror and the reflection of a large man who'd just come around the corner, his brow creased and gaze sharp as it skimmed the crowd.

"That's one of them, right there."

"That's one of Valentin Zukovsky's men," Bond said. "You've seen him. The fat Russian, caviar baron...and criminal. Arms, drugs, girls. I wonder why he wants you..."

"I don't really fancy asking," Q replied, frowning and glancing in the mirror again. "I can't imagine it's anything good."

"No, I can't imagine it is," Bond said, then sedately pulled into traffic and drove them away from the threat.

"Are you all right?" he asked, hoping the man wasn't too upset by the ordeal.

"Fine," Q assured him, buckling his belt finally and pulling his phone from his bag. "Not the best commute I've had this week, honestly. Perhaps we ought to carpool for the next few days."

"I believe that's the best idea you've ever had," Bond said, smiling a little at his own wit. "Now that you're safe and sound, were you going to do anything or were you just going home?"

"I hadn't made plans. I was looking forward to coming home to you, actually. You're not about to jet off somewhere, are you? I don't think I want to be left on my own at the moment," Q admitted with a small and slightly worried looking frown.

"No, I'm still sitting on my hands. All of the double-o's are. C's vetoing almost every mission, choosing to use drones and such," he said with just a touch of bitterness. "I was rather looking forward to a night in. Or out. As long as it's with you."

"In, I think. I'd rather be home should my pursuers make another attempt," Q sighed. "Best not to risk being caught unprepared."

"Take away or shall we cook?" Bond asked, quite calm in appearance though Q knew him well enough to know he's just love to take out Valentin's men.

"Whichever," Q replied, sounding a touch distracted as he glanced in the mirror again and frowned.

"Red car," he said simply, sure Bond needed no more explanation than that.

"I'm watching," he replied with a nod. He was approaching a light and it turned red, but he ran it, taking a sharp corner and racing ahead of the traffic that flooded the intersection. He was sure that wouldn't be enough to lose them but it bought them some time.

"Perhaps the flat isn't a good destination," Q frowned. "We could pack and leave the city for a few days, or find a hotel."

"I was just thinking that. We could get out of the city, call off sick tomorrow," he said. "We'll go by the flat, pack quickly, and head west, alright?"

"Alright," Q nodded, pausing, and then adding. "And we'll bring the cats, of course."

"Of course," Bond said, as if that was simply a given. "We'll get food on the road. I want to get you away from the city as quickly as possible."

"I think we may also want to make contact with Eve, make sure at least someone is aware of what's going on. Should I send her an email?" Q asked.

"That would be a good idea...but how secure is your phone? Maybe you should wait until you have your laptop?" he asked, knowing well that Q was a wizard and could probably encrypt anything better than anyone else could crack.

"Security isn't an issue," Q assured him, falling silent as he got to work.
