The Queen's official birthday celebrations might wait for the better, brighter weather of June, instead of the actual date just passed, but there was no lack of things to do in London this week, even if it was cooler and damper than the week before. St. George's day festivities were scattered throughout the city, competing with celebrations of the four hundredth anniversary of Shakespeare's death. Getting around the city could be even more difficult than usual on Sunday, with multiple streets closed off for the London marathon.

There were exhibits - everything from graphic design to a survey of Sicilian history to the influence of underwear. And the same level of diversity could be found whether you were in the mood for music, theatre, good food, or late night fun. There was something for everyone, and no matter your plans - or lack of plans - you never quite knew what you were going to find, or who might find you.

"Oh, now I've made a promise, have I," Jag stated with an amused smile, and turned towards the stairs back up out of the metro station.

"Yep. Implied promise we'd get a pint," she teased. What else could she have meant? "And don't try telling me you don't want one at the end of a good day, 'cause I know better."

"Oh, no, I don't just want one," Jag assured her. "Two's the least I might go for. Maybe even some shots."

"Two. More. Maybe even some shots," she agreed. "As long as one of us's close enough to sober we get home okay." Not that Em planned to get drunk, or anywhere near it. Not when she wanted to stay aware of who and what was around her. But a pint or two wouldn't hurt, and out with Jag was always fun.

"That's what we're drinking close to home for," Jag pointed out as they reached street level. "That, and getting away from the crowds."

"Both good things." Em turned to start toward the next closest station. "I kind of miss tipsy flying home from the bar, though."

"That'll happen again soon enough," Jag stated with easy conviction. He might be protective, but he would never want to stop her from being herself.

Unless she found a way to be invisible, or the world found out about mutants without painting targets on their backs, flying was at best an occasional and discreet activity. Not an I don't feel like walking home from the pub one. But today was a good day, so Em wasn't going to think about that, or how much she still missed life in Duninnean.

"We'll see. Maybe I'll track down a deck with a hot air balloon or something equally innocuous."

"Have you just called a hot air balloon inconspicuous?" Jag had to check.

"Innocuous," she corrected. "But yeah, if you want to call it that. Compared to an angel or a winged horse, a hot air balloon is relatively inconspicuous. There's even a festival." She remembered it from last summer. "The whole sky's filled with hot air balloons, if you're worried about blending in."

"Let's do it then, then," Jag stated with a quick smile. He'd never been in a hot air balloon.

Em had never been in a hot air balloon either, but the steampunk airship wasn't all that different - other than drawing more attention than she would like here. And she wanted to take Jag flying. She missed it.

"I'll see what I can find. It'll be fun."
