Solstice War - Gathering
The Solstice was upon them. When the sun went down the magic began to swell, the veil between this world and the Other Side thin as vapor. Mortals could sense it, even, though they may not have a name for it. They gathered together, not realizing the animal instinct of safety in numbers.
But all around the city, from the dark parts, fae began to come together as well. Unseelie filled the city- boggarts and Red Caps and things unseen for many a year with bright eyes and sharp teeth. But they were tricksy, dangerous and malicious but no worse than they ever were. The real threat, the ever present danger this year, were the Milesian that crawled out of the sewers and tube tunnels to prowl they city. They were hunting tonight. They had eyes black and soulless, eyes too wide for their white, gaunt faces. Larger than their eyes were their mouth. The smile of needle fangs glinted in the street lights. Long arms ending with spidery, spindly fingers reached and clawed at passers by from the shadows.
There was a war in the city tonight and the nature of the foe, the Milesian, meant no bound mortal needed to be near any battle. Death would come to one or the other if a killing blow came down.
But there was hope. Seelie fae prowled the city as well, fighting for Light and Air. Even the Queen had seen fit to step through with her sword and shield. Such was the threat to the Fae way of life that the Milesian presented.
The longest day of the year dawned but the sunlight did nothing to frighten off the dark forces. The longest day of the year simply meant the things that went bump in the night were attacking in the light.
(Tag in, tag around! Open all week so check back. Have fun with your adventures. If you don't want any Milesian, there are plenty of Unseelie, too. Day or night, whichever works for you.)

Willy wandered to the sofa and laid down. Hex looked at Fin, then went over to the fae. He began by taking his pulse, then opened the bag to get his stethoscope.
"It's alright, Will. You're alive. You'll be okay," he said gently.

He finally got up, giving Will's arm a squeeze, and he stepped close to Fin.
"Magic or not, he needs a hospital, Fin. His pulse is only 40, I could barely get a blood pressure, and he's cold. By all rights he ought to be dead, or close to it," he said softly.
no subject
It was a big maybe, but it was all he had.
no subject
"I've got no idea," he said softly. "People don't just come back from being dead. Maybe...i don't know...give him a reason to live? I'd think being bound to you would help him along..."
no subject
He missed it, and at the same time being free from it had exposed him to new emotions. Things he wasn't ready to feel. Feelings that clashed hard with how he'd felt before.
no subject
"Alright, alright," he said. "Still...go talk to him. I'm going to brew up a pot. Tea will help him, I'm sure."
Willy laid on the sofa, long in his black leathers. He kept his eyes closed and he longed for the peace he'd felt before. Now everything seemed to bright and too loud.
no subject
"Are you hot? I could- I could get you some pyjamas, if you want," the younger fae offered. He was uneasy though, everything felt wrong in that moment. Even the air around them felt wrong.
no subject
"No, Fin...no. I am simply tired," he said, opening his eyes just a bit to look at Fin. He was quite beautiful, Willy thought. He'd always been so beautiful. But it was as if he were seeing Fin from across a vast chasm. The distance between them now was palpable. "I will get up and go to bed. I just need to sleep..."
With concentrated effort he sat up. He was stiff and slow,, no trace of his usual grace. Once on his feet, though, he took hold of Fin's arm and gave it a squeeze.
"I do love you. Thank you for fighting by my side," he said. "I think...I'm going to bed."
The words sounded wrong to his ears but he wasn't sure why, nor did he want to think long on why. He just wanted to sleep.
no subject
"I'm sorry for dragging you out here," he said softly. "You should probably go though. I- Tonight's been a strange night. I have a lot to think about, and Will needs some sleep."
no subject
"Are you sure you want to be alone with him? I can stay for a bit. Until he's well asleep. Whatever you need, Fin. Anything."
no subject
"You're a good friend, Hex. ...I love you, yeah? You're my best mate," he added, wanting that known as his need to run continued to creep up on him.
no subject
"Same, Fin. Same all around. Best I've ever had," Hex said, moving in close to hug Fin. He knew it was a risk. Fin's magic was so bloody compelling. But as he embraced him he didn't feel any violent urges, no desire for more.
It felt like it used to. It made him catch his breath...but he wasn't about to question it.
"Ring me tomorrow, yeah? Just to let me know you're both alright?" he said, letting go and gathering his things to leave.
no subject
He didn't want Hex to let go, that embrace was so familiar and comforting, the manic lust that had too often come between them missing this time. All that was there was love, love for the man who'd been there for him since before the madness, and all the way through. Hex was a better friend than he deserved, no matter what mistakes they'd both made.
"Be safe, Hex," he said softly.
no subject
"You, too," he said. Reluctantly he let go, only to touch Fin's face lightly and he offered a smile. "It'll be alright. I'm sure of it," he said, then took up his kit and made for the door to leave.
