GP - Wild Magic 2: Chaotic Evil Boogaloo

London was a magic epicenter of sorts. Between doors to The Otherside, dormant and active portals, and an active wizarding community, it was a hub of energy, more so now than it had been for quite some time. The city was experiencing a magical renaissance of sorts- Which sounded lovely and made it a prime place to be for those exploring and studying magical energies, but wasn't so wonderful for London's more 'normal' sorts.

Magic didn't care if you were a dark lord or a banker, if it liked you, it liked you- And it was impossible to guess who it would like.

Today magic energy was at an all time high. Another blip in the usually somewhat steady stream of power that flowed through the streets. As a result, odd things were afoot- From mischievous inconveniences, to darker disruptions. Unlike the portals, these bothers were a touch more subtle, creeping up unseen on the unsuspecting.

Last time around the magic had seemed lighthearted and playful- And some of it still was, but... There was an intensity to some of it this time, harking back to the troubles that seemed to roll around every Halloween now. Something wicked was caught in the current, and while it wasn't out to harm everyone, it did seem keen to target a few.

(OTA. Just like the last time, the magic can affect your pup however you see fit. Unlike last time, however, some of the magic has taken a darker turn. It doesn't have to do something wicked to your pup, of course, but the option is there now. This post will be open from 7/18-7/28 or longer if needed. Tag in, tag others, and check back often.)

Fin raised a brow, waiting for Greg to continue. When he didn't, the fae took it as a chance to say something more himself.

"Let me stay with you tonight, hmm? I really don't want to be alone, and it would be nice to catch up," he requested softly. "Unless you've got plans," he added quickly, realizing he was being a bit presumptuous. "I'd understand if you did."

"No, I don't have plans," House said with a little snort. When did he ever have plans.

"Sure, come home with me." He was almost surprised that he was the one Fin wanted because he was lonely.

Luckily, Felix had actually seen that movie, though he had to blink once or twice to recall the significance. Slowly, he nodded. "Perhaps we should be considering each of these incidents as symptoms, rather than separate, er, diseases. Returning to Remus for a moment, he told me about a rather disturbing artifact that their sort has care of, which has disturbingly similar implications to this discussion."

He frowned, both in thought and with distaste. "I warn you, this is deeply troubling. Remus told me of an artifact called the Veil that they keep in one of their old structures. He says it resembles a doorway with a curtain hanging over it. When a wizard dies, he says, the curtain flutters. Remus made it very clear that this is a veil between life and death." Felix looked faintly ill just talking about it; Cabalines were so vehemently anti-necromancy that it was no wonder the other type of British wizards had hidden this thing away.

"He said lately, it's been fluttering more and more often."

Obvious to Spencer, perhaps. Not at all obvious to Felix. Did Shannon love him? Felix honestly did not know. They did not say those sorts of things to one another.

"Shannon Teverius has never been known to suffer anything he found unpleasant, so I think I can safely refute the last possibility," Felix commented, distractedly. "Any of the others, though... it sounds so implausible. He barely has to crook his little finger to draw people to him. I don't know why he should be content with just me."

Felix shook his head. "I suppose you would need further data to narrow the possibilities, but I imagine that would become uncomfortable very quickly."

Sunny already had little color, but even so, she went pale. She rubbed a hand over her face, pushing the idea back. "There are a lot of dangerous entities on the other side of the veil," she said, trying to allow for it to be literally anything other than what she was afraid of.

"Yeah," Curnen sighed, horrified by the idea, yes, but beneath that was more than a little empathy. After all, hadn't she lost herself in the woods for those decades? Hadn't her own mind erased what it could?

It wasn't Pippa's taste at all, but she could appreciate it, and more than that, she could appreciate that Fin would like it.

She swiped open Pintrest and began searching curtains and furniture.

"What about these?" she asked of some red and gold curtains. "Should I pin them? We can collect all kinds of ideas here."

"I'm hardly a psychotherapist," the demon chuckled. "But it seems to me that you'd be happier if you went back to your roots. No harm in that. Put this fae business on a shelf, Fin. It's what you are, not who you are," he said sagely.

"Something old," Crowley said softly. "Something very old. Perhaps from before the creation. The magic of darkness and chaos."

"If you put your back into it your sins could be as interesting as your suit," he replied, then gave a nasty smirk. "Which is a crime in and of itself."

"Very," Spencer nodded. "I try not to profile people who aren't suspected criminals," he added honestly.

"It's not a happy topic," He admitted with a small shrug. "All that matters is I'm free now, and quite sane at the moment."

Fin smiled, appearing to perk up.

"Lovely," he replied.

"No, too much gold. I don't want fussy," Fin replied, shaking his head. "It should be a little bohemian, you know?"

"More bohemian..." she mused, swiping the page up and up. "More like this?" she asked, showing him something with a bit of an Asian print to it, with dark jewel tones.

"D'you ever wonder if you're not all the way back?" The question came out in something of a rush, but quiet, like she both wanted to get it out and deny that she'd asked at all in one go.

That was a chilling thought, and Curnen sat stunned at the very idea. "Well, fuck."

"Don't worry your pretty little head, pigeon. I'm much more nasty than anything out there. Join me for a cuppa and we'll wait for this to blow over," he said, strangely cordial.

It was a nice offer. Which was exactly what made her arch an eyebrow and point out, "You changed your tune awful suddenly."

"Hardly. I still intend to harass you, my dear," he replied. "But I'll be Damned if anything else gets to mess humanity about. That's my job and I don't plan to give it up."

"I'm not a human, though," Curnen pointed out. Not a bit of her was, though in some ways she was much more human than these old world fairies. She could go to a hospital right now and no test would ever be able to tell the difference. Though DNA testing might get interesting, she didn't know what might happen there.

"Let's go, I have whiskey and beer at home," House said, and pulled out his wallet.

"I'm certain I'm not," Prometheus laughed. "At the moment I'm sane, but I've lost decades to the madness here and there. It comes and goes. ...Why do you ask, petal?"

"I... Yeah, I suppose," Fin agreed, nodding and then pausing. "Why are you being nice, Crowley? Is this just to set me up for something unpleasant later?"

"I, yeah, I guess," Fin nodded, wondering now if this had been a poor idea. He'd sort of forgotten the way Pip tended to charge in and take over. He valued her input, and was sure she could design a far nicer space than he'd manage to, but- Well, he also worried it wouldn't be his space by the time it was done.
