London was a magic epicenter of sorts. Between doors to The Otherside, dormant and active portals, and an active wizarding community, it was a hub of energy, more so now than it had been for quite some time. The city was experiencing a magical renaissance of sorts- Which sounded lovely and made it a prime place to be for those exploring and studying magical energies, but wasn't so wonderful for London's more 'normal' sorts.

Magic didn't care if you were a dark lord or a banker, if it liked you, it liked you- And it was impossible to guess who it would like.

Today magic energy was at an all time high. Another blip in the usually somewhat steady stream of power that flowed through the streets. As a result, odd things were afoot- From mischievous inconveniences, to darker disruptions. Unlike the portals, these bothers were a touch more subtle, creeping up unseen on the unsuspecting.

Last time around the magic had seemed lighthearted and playful- And some of it still was, but... There was an intensity to some of it this time, harking back to the troubles that seemed to roll around every Halloween now. Something wicked was caught in the current, and while it wasn't out to harm everyone, it did seem keen to target a few.

(OTA. Just like the last time, the magic can affect your pup however you see fit. Unlike last time, however, some of the magic has taken a darker turn. It doesn't have to do something wicked to your pup, of course, but the option is there now. This post will be open from 7/18-7/28 or longer if needed. Tag in, tag others, and check back often.)

"I think that's a very good decision," said House. He took another swig from the bottle. When he wasn't popping Vicodin he let himself drink more.

"You sure you're not hungry? I think I have some cheetos..."

"I don't want Cheetos," Fin assured him, laughing softly as his smile grew warmer again. "You're so energetic tonight, should we dance? Burn off a bit of that energy?"

Being pain free for the first time in months was better than cocaine, House thought.

"Sure thing, how about some music?" House said, and walked over to the record player, flipping through albums.

"Certainly be less mad than dancing in silence," Fin chuckled, getting to his feet and moving to stand beside Greg. "Something slow, maybe?" he suggested.

House pulled out a record with old jazz standards, and put it on. A moment later, there Ella Fitzgerald was crooning and House walked back over and held a hand out to Fin.

Fin didn't hesitate to take the doctor's hand, moving closer until he had an arm draped around him and their bodies were pressed tightly together.

"Do you ever wish you could start over?" Fin asked softly, starting to sway as he spoke. "Just go back to the start and try again?"

"With what?" House asked as they danced. "Everything?"

"Maybe not everything- Maybe just a few major choices?" Fin shrugged, resting against Greg and closing his eyes as he continued to move with the music.

"There... are things I would do differently, yes," House admitted. "Though honestly, not many. What are you thinking of?"

"I'm thinking if I could go back just far enough, back to before I knew I was fae, there are a lot of things I'd do differently. I've been thinking about giving myself a fresh start. I'm going to redo the flat the way I want it, go back to my acting roots, to who I was before fae deals or fae blood. ...At least as much as I'm able."

"Were you happier then?" House asked him. "Before you knew?"

"I don't know. Things were certainly less complicated though," Fin confessed. "At least they seem so when I look back."

"Well," House mused, "as long as we're going the things we can't control route, I can imagine my life would be very different if the doctors I'd seen when my leg started hurting weren't incompetent assholes."

"I wish I could fix it for you. Forever, I mean, not just one night a go," Fin sighed. "Magic is such bollocks, it never works the way you want it to, you know?"

"It's okay," said House. "This is more than I expected. One night at a time." And he found himself even without thinking about it, bending his head to kiss him.

Tilting his head, Fin returned the kiss without hesitation, his lips parting slightly as he let out a hushed moan.

Hearing that moan was just what House needed. A reminder that he was wanted. That Fin wasn't someone he was paying to pretend. That Fin wasn't someone who was too drunk to consent. That Fin was... special. He kissed him back, and stopped swaying to slid his hands onto his face.

Fin had made a habit of isolating himself in New York, with one exception, and it felt almost like a relief to be touched again by someone familiar. It was soothing, pulling him out of the deep well of misery he'd let himself tumble into. ...Well, at least for the night anyway.

His own hands came to rest gently on Greg's chest, and he exhaled softly as he broke the kiss and brushed away all the dark and miserable thoughts and feelings that threatened to creep back up on him. It gave him a beat to centre himself before leaning back in and nuzzling at the other man's jaw.

"Do you want to come to bed?" House asked him, already sliding one of his hands down to tangle his fingers with Fin's.

"Sure," Fin said softly, "I'd like that."

He didn't want to be alone right now, he was ready to start letting people back in.

A little smile touched House's lips as he pulled Fin towards his bedroom. It felt good to walk without a limp. It was going to feel really good to have sex without pain.

He sat down on the side of the bed, and pulled Fin into his lap.
