GP - Wild Magic 2: Chaotic Evil Boogaloo

London was a magic epicenter of sorts. Between doors to The Otherside, dormant and active portals, and an active wizarding community, it was a hub of energy, more so now than it had been for quite some time. The city was experiencing a magical renaissance of sorts- Which sounded lovely and made it a prime place to be for those exploring and studying magical energies, but wasn't so wonderful for London's more 'normal' sorts.

Magic didn't care if you were a dark lord or a banker, if it liked you, it liked you- And it was impossible to guess who it would like.

Today magic energy was at an all time high. Another blip in the usually somewhat steady stream of power that flowed through the streets. As a result, odd things were afoot- From mischievous inconveniences, to darker disruptions. Unlike the portals, these bothers were a touch more subtle, creeping up unseen on the unsuspecting.

Last time around the magic had seemed lighthearted and playful- And some of it still was, but... There was an intensity to some of it this time, harking back to the troubles that seemed to roll around every Halloween now. Something wicked was caught in the current, and while it wasn't out to harm everyone, it did seem keen to target a few.

(OTA. Just like the last time, the magic can affect your pup however you see fit. Unlike last time, however, some of the magic has taken a darker turn. It doesn't have to do something wicked to your pup, of course, but the option is there now. This post will be open from 7/18-7/28 or longer if needed. Tag in, tag others, and check back often.)

"Cross as a bear with a sore ass," Curnen muttered in agreement.

Making herself breathe, Sunny only nodded again. She felt a little pathetic, but it was a relief to have said it, to have acknowledged the possibility, without becoming hysterical.

"It is, of course, only a hypothesis," she said when she trusted her voice again.

"You underestimate how much people typically dislike me," House said.

"The evidence wasn't really in my favour," Spencer admitted, though he didn't go deeper than that. He didn't really want to admit that he'd been breaking enough rules that framing him hadn't been too hard in the end.

His phone vibrated in his pocket, though it wasn't a text or a call, just a news alert he'd set up. Still, when he glanced at it, he realized time was starting to run out if he still wanted to head down to the station.

"I should probably get going," he sighed, finishing his coffee and offering a smile. "Thank you for the coffee, and the conversation. I'd love to hear more about your research sometime."

"I'll have to just assume that's very cross indeed. I've never met a bear with a bad bum. ...nor do I hope to," the titan snorted.

"You say that a lot, but I'm yet to see proof," Fin pointed out.

"When do you ever see me with other people?" House asked with an arched eyebrow. Then he bent and refilled Fin's glass.

"Fair enough," Fin agreed, smiling at the top up. "Still, I feel like I'm lacking proof. Maybe this is all a ruse, you just want me to think you're usually a bastard so I'll... I don't know, feel extra special?"

"I bet you've got enough imagination to come up with something," Curnen assured him, her eyes bright with a suppressed giggle.

"Or maybe you just like bastards," House pointed out. "But if you'd like I can call my ex for a reference, I'm sure she'd be happy to detail how I drove her away."

The titan smiled at that, sipping his tea, then speaking again. "So, are their many bum troubled bears where you come from?"

Fin's smile faltered slightly, and he forced an uncomfortable laugh.

"Pass," he said softly.

"Well, I was in those woods for an awful long time..." Curnen said enigmatically, her shoulders lifting in a slow shrug.

"Oh, in the woods with those bears? I do hope you weren't the cause of any bum related distress. Fae can be so wicked sometimes..." the titan purred.

"I think that's a very good decision," said House. He took another swig from the bottle. When he wasn't popping Vicodin he let himself drink more.

"You sure you're not hungry? I think I have some cheetos..."

"I don't want Cheetos," Fin assured him, laughing softly as his smile grew warmer again. "You're so energetic tonight, should we dance? Burn off a bit of that energy?"

"Perhaps we don't test that one," said Felix briskly. "But we keep it in mind as a possibility. Are you... ?"

He lifted his brows and gestured toward her in a meaningless fashion, intended to express concern for her emotional state, but falling short of actually doing so. Because Felix hadn't the first clue how to ask about that sort of thing.

Being pain free for the first time in months was better than cocaine, House thought.

"Sure thing, how about some music?" House said, and walked over to the record player, flipping through albums.

"Oh, darling, you may regret that after the fifth or sixth hour," Felix laughed , but he didn't seem very serious. He recognized Spencer as a fellow lover of learning and knowledge, and that tended to bring with it a tolerance for long-winded discourse.

Felix held out one long-fingered pale hand, palm-up, with an inquisitive expression. "Shall I enter my details into your phone? I'd be delighted to take you out to dinner sometime soon, when Shannon's off being important and we can have a real talk."

"Certainly be less mad than dancing in silence," Fin chuckled, getting to his feet and moving to stand beside Greg. "Something slow, maybe?" he suggested.

House pulled out a record with old jazz standards, and put it on. A moment later, there Ella Fitzgerald was crooning and House walked back over and held a hand out to Fin.

Fin didn't hesitate to take the doctor's hand, moving closer until he had an arm draped around him and their bodies were pressed tightly together.

"Do you ever wish you could start over?" Fin asked softly, starting to sway as he spoke. "Just go back to the start and try again?"

"With what?" House asked as they danced. "Everything?"

"Dunno. I did steal things out of people's trash, though." Curnen thought she said that rather nonchalantly given she'd never admitted that to anyone here before. "Pretty sure Mrs. Goins threatened to shoot me a time or two."

It was kind of pathetic, but it was Felix trying, and Sunny appreciated that. "You ever have one of those moments that you would consider doing just about anything to erase?" she said quietly. "He smiled when he killed himself."
