London was a magic epicenter of sorts. Between doors to The Otherside, dormant and active portals, and an active wizarding community, it was a hub of energy, more so now than it had been for quite some time. The city was experiencing a magical renaissance of sorts- Which sounded lovely and made it a prime place to be for those exploring and studying magical energies, but wasn't so wonderful for London's more 'normal' sorts.

Magic didn't care if you were a dark lord or a banker, if it liked you, it liked you- And it was impossible to guess who it would like.

Today magic energy was at an all time high. Another blip in the usually somewhat steady stream of power that flowed through the streets. As a result, odd things were afoot- From mischievous inconveniences, to darker disruptions. Unlike the portals, these bothers were a touch more subtle, creeping up unseen on the unsuspecting.

Last time around the magic had seemed lighthearted and playful- And some of it still was, but... There was an intensity to some of it this time, harking back to the troubles that seemed to roll around every Halloween now. Something wicked was caught in the current, and while it wasn't out to harm everyone, it did seem keen to target a few.

(OTA. Just like the last time, the magic can affect your pup however you see fit. Unlike last time, however, some of the magic has taken a darker turn. It doesn't have to do something wicked to your pup, of course, but the option is there now. This post will be open from 7/18-7/28 or longer if needed. Tag in, tag others, and check back often.)

"Cross as a bear with a sore ass," Curnen muttered in agreement.

"I'll have to just assume that's very cross indeed. I've never met a bear with a bad bum. ...nor do I hope to," the titan snorted.

"I bet you've got enough imagination to come up with something," Curnen assured him, her eyes bright with a suppressed giggle.

The titan smiled at that, sipping his tea, then speaking again. "So, are their many bum troubled bears where you come from?"

"Well, I was in those woods for an awful long time..." Curnen said enigmatically, her shoulders lifting in a slow shrug.

"Oh, in the woods with those bears? I do hope you weren't the cause of any bum related distress. Fae can be so wicked sometimes..." the titan purred.

"Dunno. I did steal things out of people's trash, though." Curnen thought she said that rather nonchalantly given she'd never admitted that to anyone here before. "Pretty sure Mrs. Goins threatened to shoot me a time or two."

"Don't have to be cursed to do that," Prometheus replied- Implying that he'd had similar problems in the past. At his maddest, he'd done many strange things. ...Awful things as well.

"Reckon that's true," Curnen agreed.

"So this may just... be who I am now," she said, hesitant and quiet.

"Nothing wrong with that, pet. Being a bit damaged just adds character, don't you think? Much more fun to be the person digging through the rubbish rather than the person sitting quietly in the corner," he shrugged. "I've made peace with my strangeness, personally. I like to think it makes me more fun. ...You know, when I remember to remember that, that is."

Curnen wriggled awkwardly in her place. "My sister ain't too keen on the idea. She practically started scolding me the minute after the curse broke." It was love, she knew. Bliss had wanted her to reclaim what had been denied for more than half a century. But she hadn't fully understood things like the fact that speech was hard.

"It's only natural to worry over our siblings," the titan replied. "Surely it was some kind of show of concern, not true scolding."

After all, he fussed over Epimetheus, despite knowing better.

Curnen made a soft noise of assent, lifting one shoulder in a little shrug. "She did help raise me. I dunno what I'd have to do to actually register as 'an adult.'" It was a description that worked even if you just looked at appearances. Curnen looked like high school was still in her recent memories, Bliss about thirty. Some degree of fussing would always be there.

"Well," Curnen conceded, "time don't work the same for everybody."

Having finished her tea, she looked into her cup, searching for patterns. She was not particularly talented in this regard, but there wasn't much ambiguity in the question she'd had in mind, or the answer she was given.

Was it him?

No.

"Fuck," she muttered.

Prometheus watched for a moment, wetting his lips thoughtfully before speaking.

"Whatever the leaves have to say, petal, remember the future is flexible. What is isn't always what will be. "

The titan nodded and left the topic be. He had a gift, but it wasn't one he used often, and tea leaves were never enough to focus it really.

Curnen was quiet for a bit, considering this information. It wasn't her husband. She could have focused on the question of whether he was alive, but there were easier ways to do that. She'd call her sister later. If for no other reason, Bliss could least leave a stone at the... well, it was easiest to call it a grave.

"Thank you," she said.

"I'unno, the experience of talking to someone who understands?" Curnen ducked her head. "It's not something I get a lot of." Sometimes even with the other fairies in this country she felt even more apart than she did by being a hillbilly American among city folk.

"Then you're very welcome, pet," Prometheus replied sincerely, offering a soft smile.
