GP - Wild Magic 2: Chaotic Evil Boogaloo

London was a magic epicenter of sorts. Between doors to The Otherside, dormant and active portals, and an active wizarding community, it was a hub of energy, more so now than it had been for quite some time. The city was experiencing a magical renaissance of sorts- Which sounded lovely and made it a prime place to be for those exploring and studying magical energies, but wasn't so wonderful for London's more 'normal' sorts.

Magic didn't care if you were a dark lord or a banker, if it liked you, it liked you- And it was impossible to guess who it would like.

Today magic energy was at an all time high. Another blip in the usually somewhat steady stream of power that flowed through the streets. As a result, odd things were afoot- From mischievous inconveniences, to darker disruptions. Unlike the portals, these bothers were a touch more subtle, creeping up unseen on the unsuspecting.

Last time around the magic had seemed lighthearted and playful- And some of it still was, but... There was an intensity to some of it this time, harking back to the troubles that seemed to roll around every Halloween now. Something wicked was caught in the current, and while it wasn't out to harm everyone, it did seem keen to target a few.

(OTA. Just like the last time, the magic can affect your pup however you see fit. Unlike last time, however, some of the magic has taken a darker turn. It doesn't have to do something wicked to your pup, of course, but the option is there now. This post will be open from 7/18-7/28 or longer if needed. Tag in, tag others, and check back often.)

Curnen looked up from her phone, recognizing the voice more than anything else about him. As she tried to place him, she just asked, "And why would I wanna be doing that?"

[sauntereddownward]

"You're embarrassing yourself," Crowley replied dryly. "Everyone looking at you will think you've lost your mind."

[wispofathing]

Curnen shrugged. "You seem to be doin' okay, and I reckon I've dealt with worse anyway."

[sauntereddownward]

"Worse than the London public and their opinion? My dear, what fresh Hell have you been through?" he asked with an oily smirk.

[wispofathing]

"Somehow I don't think that story particularly matters to you, old man," she said, having finally put the voice together with the smile and the sunglasses. They'd met at Winter's house party.

[sauntereddownward]

"It might. I always like a good story," the demon replied, but then he took a sip of wine. As soon as the glass was set aside he took another drag. "I collect them, as a matter of fact. The juicier, the better."

[wispofathing]

"I got no particular reason to share it with you, though," Curnen pointed out. The song came to an end, and she took the opportunity to close the app.

[sauntereddownward]

"Fine, fine. Keep your secrets you dirty little fairy," he said, waving her away. "Do what you please. Your kind always do."

[wispofathing]

"Aw," Curnen grinned at him. "That was practically a shaking cane away from a 'you kids keep off the grass!'"

[sauntereddownward]

"You think I'm such a curmudgeon?" Crowley asked. "Quite the contrary. In fact, I rather encourage trespassing and malicious mischief," he chuckled.

"I think you sounded like one just now," Curnen answered easily.

[sauntereddownward]

"Are you...are you trying to make me smile?" Crowley asked incredulously, his viper's grin fading away. He wasn't about to be conned by a mirthful little faerie.

Curnen laughed at that. "Where'd that idea come from?"

[sauntereddownward]

"It's clearly the only possible explanation for someone being so insufferably cheerful," the demon replied.

[wispofathing]

"Maybe I just like that it bugs you," Curnen answered with a shrug. "Or maybe I just liked seeing how people are doing back home, whatever."

[sauntereddownward]

"It must be agony being so far away from them," Crowley said. It was seemingly a soft statement but there was something simply devilish about how he said it.

[wispofathing]

Curnen thought about that, the smile fading as her expression smoothed out. "Well, I miss them, yeah. But it ain't time for me to go back yet."

[sauntereddownward]

"And why is that, pet?" he asked, having a glorious time asking such sensitive, personal questions.

[wispofathing]

Curnen's smile returned, enigmatic, almost mask-like. "Ain't time."

[sauntereddownward]

"Oh, I'm sure it is. It's very simple, really. You open an app, pick a flight, and leave to a land where everyone sounds like a hillbilly and you don't stand out at all," he replied sourly.

[wispofathing]

The humor came back in a rush at that. "That was fucking weak and you know it," Curnen laughed.

[sauntereddownward]

"They can't all be golden, you irritating hick," he replied. He dropped his butt and lit up another, blowing the smoke of the first drag in her face.

Curnen only continued giggling, responding to the smoke by covering her nose and mouth with her hands as though trying to smother her amusement. This wasn't a new irritation, a lot of people smoked back home.

[sauntereddownward]

"You laugh, little bird, but don't think I'm fooled. You're no Good. I can smell your Sins from over here. Murder has a stench like none other," he said quietly enough that the people around them couldn't hear.

That stopped her.

Curnen frowned and lowered her hands. "I ain't murdered anybody."
