GP - Wild Magic 2: Chaotic Evil Boogaloo

London was a magic epicenter of sorts. Between doors to The Otherside, dormant and active portals, and an active wizarding community, it was a hub of energy, more so now than it had been for quite some time. The city was experiencing a magical renaissance of sorts- Which sounded lovely and made it a prime place to be for those exploring and studying magical energies, but wasn't so wonderful for London's more 'normal' sorts.

Magic didn't care if you were a dark lord or a banker, if it liked you, it liked you- And it was impossible to guess who it would like.

Today magic energy was at an all time high. Another blip in the usually somewhat steady stream of power that flowed through the streets. As a result, odd things were afoot- From mischievous inconveniences, to darker disruptions. Unlike the portals, these bothers were a touch more subtle, creeping up unseen on the unsuspecting.

Last time around the magic had seemed lighthearted and playful- And some of it still was, but... There was an intensity to some of it this time, harking back to the troubles that seemed to roll around every Halloween now. Something wicked was caught in the current, and while it wasn't out to harm everyone, it did seem keen to target a few.

(OTA. Just like the last time, the magic can affect your pup however you see fit. Unlike last time, however, some of the magic has taken a darker turn. It doesn't have to do something wicked to your pup, of course, but the option is there now. This post will be open from 7/18-7/28 or longer if needed. Tag in, tag others, and check back often.)

"It just takes time, Pip- and we've got plenty of that, don't we?" Fin pointed out. "I know you, you'll be the most powerful fae the world's ever known one day."

"One day," she agreed. She pinched a chip off Fin's plate and nibbled it. "And you, too. Prince. That's got power behind it. We'll be brilliant once we get our legs under us."

"Or we'll burn it all down," Fin laughed.

"We just might," she replied, laughing brightly. The warmth of it, the genuine happiness, it wafted off of her like a gentle perfume, making the very air around her lighter. She tried to control it, she really did, but when she was happy, really happy, it just kind of escaped.

The entire mood of the pub lightened. People talked a bit louder, laughed a little easier, and when the waitress came over to leave the check and ask if they wanted fresh drinks she was smiling and much warmer than she'd been before.

"Want another pint?" Pip asked him.

Fin felt the mood change and looked uneasy, but he found a smile and nodded.

"Sure, another pint sounds good."

"Another pint and another diet. Got it," the waitress smiled, then walked off to get the drinks.

Pippa leaned forward, elbow on the table and chin in hand.

"What are you doing after?" she asked. "My day is free. We could do something together," she suggested. It worried her terribly that Fin felt alone. She wasn't going to address that head on, though. Best to wiggle around the obvious and take another tack.

"I was going to do some writing, that was the plan," Fin shrugged. "What would you want to do, Pip? See a film, go to a museum? It all feels a bit dull at the moment, doesn't it? ...Or maybe that's just me. The world feels a bit muted lately. I'm forever searching for colour."

"I was thinking I could teach you how to change the size of your tits," she grinned devilishly.

Fin snorted at that, shaking his head and smiling. It wasn't a joyful smile though, and it didn't matter what Fin said or did, it was obvious he had a lot going on in his head right now.

"I like my tits how they are, non-existent."

"Fine, fine," she said lightly, teasing just a little. But she reached across the table again and took hold of his wrist.

"How about we do something else? Anything else. Something to make you feel better?" she said softly.

"Pip. ...Pip, um- What if- What if nothing's going to make me feel better? What happens when a fae has- I don't know, um... Chemical imbalance or something?" he asked quietly. "I mean, it's not like we can pop down to see our GP and get a script. Do you think there are, like, fae doctors? Fae institutions?"

"Well, I'd reckon there's got to be. Do you think that's it? You'd have to ask someone who knows more than me."

She nearly choked on her next words.

"Maybe you should ask Will."

"No," Fin said quietly. "That's not the way I want to reconnect with him. ...There's something wrong with me though, Pip. I'm not me right now. I'm not sure I've been me in a very long time."

"Why do you say that, Fin?" Pippa asked softly.

"I went from being dead to being a fae, Pip. There wasn't much time for personal growth, just a lot of personal fuck ups," Fin replied, shaking his head. "Now I've got this tattoo, and everything's changing again. It's exhausting, Pip. I'm exhausted."

"Maybe you should take a proper holiday, Fin," she suggested. "Somewhere warm. Spain, or Fiji. Have a real rest and come back to it. Not a dodgy trip to a big city. Or...we could really get away. We could go to the Other Side, you and I, and we could just...live."

She didn't dare think of him going to the faerie realms on his own. That was too much for her to think on.

"I don't think a holiday fixes this, Pip," Fin said gently. "Not that I don't wish it was that simple. I'd love to think some sun and calm would fix me."

"Then I imagine it's important to get you in to see someone. NHS is right out, but, hmm. What about your nurse friend? He might know something if you don't want to talk to Will about it..." she offered, sipping her coke. This was beyond her. It always had been. When it came to Fin's health she wanted to help. She just didn't know how.

"I'll be alright, Pip. I'll talk to Hex, maybe. ...I don't know," he sighed. "Sorry, I'm bringing the mood down."

"I could fix that, but then you'd be cross with me," she replied, a hint of a devilish grin tugging at the corner of her mouth.

"Plese don't. I know you're joking, but please don't, Pip. ...Not me, not ever. I don't want that," Fin replied seriously.

"I'm not! I won't. I promise, Fin," she replied, reaching for him once more. "If I'm going to try to make you feel better I'll stick to more traditional ways. Like alcohol."

Fin relaxed, then offered a soft a smile. "Another drink sounds ideal. Not a cure, but certainly a start."

"Why don't we go someplace fun? Drinks and dancing? At least some good music. You can get pissed and I'll make sure you get home safe. What do you say?" Pip smiled.

"Pip," Fin said softly. "I... I know you want to help, and I'm grateful, but- Clubbing doesn't sound like fun right now."

He didn't expect her to understand how this felt, they'd always been different on an emotional level. He'd never known Pippa to be depressed, but Fin? Fin had always had episodes.

"Look, if the pub's really not doing it for you, we could go back to my flat. You can look at rug samples with me, paint colours... I'm thinking about gutting the place," he admitted.
