London hadn't been her first idea of a place to take Hope. Intially she'd thought of finding a place in America, perhaps a small house with the picket fence that she'd dreamed of. But the longer she had thought on that, the less safe it had seemed. Rebekah wanted to settle for a few years at least, and in a small town people would notice that she didn't age. She could compel people to not notice or to forget, but that led to building yet another life on lies and deceit. Perhaps when Hope was older she would find a smaller town and move there but for now she'd decided on a city.
Of course, not wanting to have a life founded on lies hadn't stopped her from compelling her way into a comfortable bank balance and a nice three story townhome in Hackney near the meadows. Nor did it top her from doing similar to the nanny that she'd hired, ensuring that the Irish girl only thought Rebekah was a young professional woman trying to raise her niece on her own. Lies, yes, but necessary ones in Rebekah's mind. These were the ones that would keep them both comfortable and safe.
A week of settling in and Rebekah needed to get out, to feed if nothing else. A few days more and she would organise something with a local blood bank, finding a way to get blood without needing a human directly involved. But tonight Hope was at home asleep in the care of the nanny, and Rebekah was on her way into the city. There would always be a crowd out at this time, going from restaurant to theatre to club. She only needed to find one person who was willing to be distracted and her mission would be complete and she could go home.
