After John Hart, after Gray, Jack couldn't be in Cardiff. He was Torchwood now, not just what he did but who he was, and he had a small crisis and had to get away. Although he'd broken with London's Torchwood after the incidents at Canary Wharf (which it seemed the population had either forgotten or written off) Jack found himself in England's jewel. He was ready to make a new start. And, he reckoned, the Doctor would probably visit London before Cardiff if truth be told.

He'd settled into the subterranean Hub that Alice and Emily had worked in. It had been long forgotten in favor of the building of steel and glass that had been built atop it. Bloody Torchwood...they were supposed to be secret. He'd made his contacts and had put himself to work. But even Jack needed to eat.

He had all of the city to choose from and rather than just go to a pub Jack stood on the sidewalk looking at his mobile reading Yelp reviews. There was a place just down the block and around the corner. Yelp was good and all but he kind of wanted a real opinion so he looked up from his screen and he smiled at the first person whose eye he caught.

"Excuse me...do you know if this place is any good?" he asked, showing the screen. His American accent immediately marked him as a tourist, even though he wasn't.

"How long have you owned it? Because it's been...it's been years since I was in London," he said. "A lot of years."

[jadedjade]

"I bought the place five years ago. It was a horrible mess. Spent the first year cleaning and fixing it... I would have remembered you," He repeated. "When were you last in London?"

"Maybe four years ago? It's been a long time. Maybe ten years before that..." he replied.

[jadedjade]

"Was it a brothel back then? I was told it was a hotel," Jade said. He did wonder how early the Captain had started going to brothels (he must have been quite young), but he didn't comment on it. He wouldn't pass judgement either.

"Not so much a brothel as...the place to go if you found a date," he said. "The owner was the wink and nod sort, but he didn't really take care of the place so no one wanted to stay the whole night, you know?"

[jadedjade]

"Well, I can assure you it's much cleaner now," Jade said, not unproudly. He worked hard for his place and he fancied it a very decent hotel. "Though it sounds kinda romantic. In a way."

"I think I remember you. I came once...I didn't even need a date, I just needed a shower and I know it was safe. I'm sure I saw you in the lobby," he said.

[jadedjade]

Jade was sure he hadn't seen him, but he didn't want to rub the man the wrong way. "I feel really bad not remembering," he said. "You have such a memorable face. If you do feel like another visit, I'm sure I will remember it..." A little smile and an invitation.

Jack smiled brightly at that. "Well now that I'm a Londoner I think I'm going to have to take you up on that," he purred.

[jadedjade]

"Oh, you are! Proper Londoner. Unmistakably." He teased, of course. The man breathed Stars and Stripes.

"Ooh, proper, Jack laughed. "Do you think so?"

[jadedjade]

"Well, you may have to do something about those teeth. Too shiny white to be English," Jade laughed along.

"A dig at the dental," Jack said, shaking his head...but he was laughing, still. "I like you. You really run Moulin now?"

[jadedjade]

Jade was used to disbelief when it came to his abilities to run a business. And it was hard, yes, but he managed. "I do, yes. Twenty men and women - all manner of tastes. You really ought to come by. I think you'll like it."

"There's no reason I can't come by tonight," he said. "Maybe you can give me a tour. Or do I need an appointment?"

[jadedjade]

"You, my Captain, don't need an appointment," Jade promised. It was one of those promises he made to people when he knew it was what they liked to hear. He happened to have a free spot, otherwise he wouldn't have made the comment at all. But it sounded nicer to say it the way he did.

"I am so flattered by that. Let's eat and go back, I'd love to have a personal tour. Maybe something more than a tour," he said, drawing a fingertip along Jade's jaw.

[jadedjade]

"I'd love to give you a tour, and a something more than a tour," Jade promised tentatively as they walked to the restaurant.

"I think I've got enough cash on me for more than a tour," he smiled, perfectly at ease discussing Jade's profession. Oldest profession in the world and Jack didn't judge. Jade seemed happy doing it, willing and eager. Jack had known some in slavery and servitude and, well, that was a whole different story...

Of course Jade loved it. He'd made it his profession, his business and his life's work. He was proud of what he had accomplished and he was proud of what he could do for his clients.

"Then, my dear Captain, I will give you a night to remember. New memories in an old place." Though that was still very strange to him. That this man should know his hotel before it was his.

"Something to look forward to," he purred, gently running his hand down Jade's back, To him it was only natural. He'd parted ways with Ianto, there was not a single reason to say no to a night of comfort and pleasure.

[jadedjade]

"So, you've settled in London permanently?" Jade asked, pleasantly. He might as well, since they were having dinner.

[im_torchwood]

"Oh, I don't know how permanent it is. I'm hoping I'll travel more before I die," he quipped, the statement light, teasing, much too glib to be serious.

[jadedjade]

"Well, of course you will," Jade replied. "You're a pilot. I mean, have you chosen London as your... home port?"
