would all work out- That they'd make it work, even if they both were

Val had spent years going through lovers the way most people went through
dental floss, and a small part of him worried that he might cling too
tightly now that he'd found someone he really wanted. ...Or worse, that
he'd push Jag away and lose not just a love, but a friend as well.
