Gathering Post - Christmas Eve Party

Merry Christmas!

You are invited to celebrate the season with Finlay Flynn and Willy Silver.

 

When: Christmas Eve (5pm – Midnight)

Where: Making the Modern World - The Science Museum

Upon entry you'll be given a ticket for one free drink. All drinks after that are 5 each. There will also be a free buffet in the dining area.

 

Dress code: Casual, but tidy please!

 

Raffle: Come wearing a festive sweater and you will automatically be entered into a raffle to win a 65 inch TV.

 

Donate: Bring three tins of canned food to be donated to the local food bank, and receive an extra drink ticket.

Look forward to: A live DJ, live music, an appearance by Santa, gift bags with deluxe swag, and the company of old and new friends!

 

(OTA! Happy holidays! If you know Fin, Willy, Phouka, or Winter, feel free to assume they gave you an invite. If not, you can say your pup got an invite through a friend of a friend, someone who knows someone, ect. It IS invite over (no gate crashing pups please, Fin's a giver and would want everyone to feel included), but the pups hosting the party are pretty active and I believe they know almost everyone in the game. And the people they don't know surely know people who do. Even if you only met them once, you got an invite somehow! This gathering post is open all week, and beyond!)

Q chuckled at that, pulling a face. "Normal people must be terribly tedious."

"Well, define 'normal'," Dutch answered with a smile, very definitely thinking about Emma. "Some of them manage to be interesting despite the lack of murder talk. Shocker."

"Muggles, the lot of them," Q replied, shaking his head in disagreement- Though he was clearly only teasing.

Dutch eyed him critically. "Which house?" If he was going to quote Harry bleedin' Potter, her mind was going to go there.

"I want to be cool and say Slytherin, but I think I've always been a bit Hufflepuff if I'm honest," Q admitted. "Far too eager to help, and good at finding things."

Dutch laughed. "Good on you, mate. I'm completely a Slytherin." No doubt there.

"Fitting, and I'm sure you look lovely in green. ...Mmm, I wonder what my James would be," he said, glancing over at the man in question, then wrinkling his nose.

"Gryffindor probably."

Dutch smirked down at her top; she was in green. Khaki completely counted.

Then she made a face at his addendum. "They're the worst."

"The worst" Q agreed, finishing his drink. "This round's on me. Same again, or something else?" he asked.

"I'm all about the champagne tonight," Dutch told him with a grin, moving with him back towards the bar.

Q smiled at that and nodded, returning to the bar and ordering them each another glass before paying.

"So go on then, point out your date," he nudged. "Surely she's about somewhere. ...Hopefully mine's not cornered her."

"I will knee him in the balls," Dutch assured Q easily. From the body language alone, she had a feeling someone like his James would make Emma extremely uncomfortable. She looked his way first, and grinned. "No, his balls are safe. Well, from me." She looked around the rest of the crowd they could see, and shook her head. "Don't think she's here yet. I hope she'd track me down first."

"Pity, we'll just have to drink until she arrives," Q joked lightly, holding his glass up in toast.

"Do they force you to work up your alcohol tolerance at the Spy Academy?" Dutch asked, and tipped her glass against his.

"It's sweet that you think they taught me to do anything more than hide really," Q laughed clinking his glass against hers. "I'm supposed to be safe behind my desk usually."

"I think you slipped in the key word there at the end," Dutch remarked with a purse of her lips, eyes twinkling.

[quartermaster_q]

"In their defence, I don't think they could have anticipated needing me in the field, or my abduction," Q said absently, sipping his drink and watching the crowd as they danced. "It's not been my best year. Though if our new boss gets his way, I'll never leave my desk again. ...I don't know how to feel about that."

He didn't mind sharing those things with Dutch. After all, she was clever- If she wanted to know, she'd find a way to find out. His systems were some of the best in the world, but nothing was flawless, and Q wasn't as arrogant as he'd been before Skyfall.

"Relieved and gutted all at once?" Dutch took a wild guess, then reconsidered the proportions, if nothing else. "More gutted than relieved."

That was how she'd feel.

"I hate flying, and I hate being in the field, but- Yes. ...Yeah, I think I would be a bit," Q admitted.

[hardertohide]

"You hate flying?" Dutch echoed, clearly amused.

[quartermaster_q]

"I'm just not comfortable being in a metal tube that could, possibly, fall out of the air with me still inside it," Q replied with a tiny frown.

[hardertohide]

"But taking the car's just fine?" She was sure he knew the statistics, there.

[quartermaster_q]

"The cars I ride in have been improved upon by me and my team. Far less frightening than air travel," Q shrugged.

[hardertohide]

"You are such a control freak." It almost sounded like a compliment, much as Dutch herself treasured the feeling of letting go of control.

"I'm not!" Q insisted. "...I just don't trust machines I can't fully control."
