Two years ago, in another London, Em would've always paid the fare, because it was less hassle than not paying. Four years ago, it might have depended on how flush she was at the time, and whether Sabine was with her. These days, in this London, or more years ago in the other, she didn't think twice about not paying unless she had to.

"It's not that far." And her leg was a lot stronger now; she could handle the walk. If she was realistic, Jag was likely to decide she needed a rest before she'd choose to take one, if she did need it. But she really didn't think she would.
