The Queen's official birthday celebrations might wait for the better, brighter weather of June, instead of the actual date just passed, but there was no lack of things to do in London this week, even if it was cooler and damper than the week before. St. George's day festivities were scattered throughout the city, competing with celebrations of the four hundredth anniversary of Shakespeare's death. Getting around the city could be even more difficult than usual on Sunday, with multiple streets closed off for the London marathon.

There were exhibits - everything from graphic design to a survey of Sicilian history to the influence of underwear. And the same level of diversity could be found whether you were in the mood for music, theatre, good food, or late night fun. There was something for everyone, and no matter your plans - or lack of plans - you never quite knew what you were going to find, or who might find you.

"Come to your flat?" he asked, considering that. He saw no reason not to. Winter was lovely and Hex knew he had games and such. "Alright."

Winter peeped happily, getting to his feet and offering Hex his hand.

"Come, it's not far. We will play and eat pizza," he decided.

Hex was going to get fat, he just knew it. He couldn't help it, though.

And then an idea struck.

"We should get some lager if we're going to have pizza. Is there a shop near your flat?"

"Yes. There is a place that sells beer. We can go there first," Winter nodded, assuming that if Hex bought things, he would get a taste as well.

"Then let's go," he smiled, getting to his feet. He was ready to leave the ice cream to melt on the walk as ants were already coming to taste the sugar of it.

At the shop that wasn't far he looked at the small packs of beer and then selected a box with more cans. If they were going to have pizza and play games then he knew he'd be there a while. He could have more than one.

Winter eyed the booze curiously, but thought nothing of it, and soon they were heading up to the flat.

His and the Phouka's place looked much like Willy's and Fin's, though Winter had swiftly filled the space with toys and games. Especially plushes, his current favourite thing to collect.

"Do you want to play Mario Kart? It's my favourite," the pixie grinned.

"Oh yes," he replied, taking the lager to the refrigerator. "Let's order the pizza. I have me card, we can put it on it and have it be done."

He thought nothing of treating Winter to beer and pizza. He was charming and Hex found he wanted to do nice things for him.

Winter peeped happily, pulling his phone out.

"No need, I have an account," the pixie said proudly. Unaware that his 'account' was just Fin's credit card. Fin didn't like the idea of Winter charming too many pizza boys into giving him his meals for free, and had gladly offered to pay for the creature's pizza obsession.

"I will order a pie with meat, and one with cheese... Oh, and a white one, with broccoli. That counts as vegetables," the pixie assure Hex.

"Alright. That sounds good," he replied, cracking open two beers and coming to the sofa so they could play while they waited for the food.

Winter sent the order, and then threw himself onto the sofa, taking one of the beers and then offering Hex a controller.

When the game started, he picked Rosalina, as he always did.

"We should do five races, and make a wager on who will win the most," The pixie grinned.

Hex picked Luigi and sipped on his beer- then gulped down a few swallows.

"What should we wager?" he asked. "Money? I don't have much dosh on me."

"Money is dull, it should be something fun," Winter replied shaking his head. "We will decide before the last race. That makes it more thrilling," the pixie grinned.

"Yeah! Yeah, something fun," Hex agreed, gulping down some more beer as he got ready to race.

Winter drank his own beer a bit slower, not wanting it to hit him too fast, then grinned impishly as he picked up the controller.

He wasn't the best at Mario Kart, but he liked it very much. ...He liked pelting other players with shells.

Hex wasn't as good as he'd been when the game came out. He spent most of his time now with first person shooters or intricate rpgs. He was still good enough and he had a few laughs as he pulled ahead, then crashed and then got going again.

"You're not bad," he grinned. "You play a lot?"

"I play when I can not sleep," Winter peeped. "But only when I'm big. When I'm small, I just go in my house and watch videos on my phone."

"Can you be big or small whenever you want to?" Hex asked, not taking his eyes off the screen.

[winter_wisp]

"Yes. ...And no," Winter replied, giggling as his car went flying right off the path.

"I am big when I take my potion, but I can shrink and grow as I please until it wears off."

[just_hex]

"Bang on, that's pure boss," Hex replied. While he waited for Winter to get back on the path he swallowed the rest of his beer.

"Pure boss," Winter echoed, not sure what it meant, but liking how it sounded.

"That's it," Hex chuckled. "Give me a bit of time and I'd have you sounding proper Scouse. You probably don't know what that is. Where I'm from, Liverpool, that's what we're called."

"Scouse," Winter echoed. "That's weird. You're weird, Hex," he giggled, coming in third and getting ready to start the next race.

Hex hit pause and went to get another beer, drinking it down on his way back.

"I'm not weird. I'm hardly even interesting. Just daft old Hex. And since I got shot I'm not much good for anything," he said matter-of-factly.

"You were shot? Like in games?" Winter asked, looking over curiously. "Why?"

Hex was quiet for a moment, then wet his lips. Winter wasn't human, surely he'd believe in something as fantastic as the Doctor...

Or maybe not.

"I went traveling, just a short trip. There was a misunderstanding and a bloke shot me in the chest. Just here," he said, pulling down the collar of his henley so Winter could see the healing wound. "I've not been working or exercizing, so coming here is a treat."

He paused.

"Like ice cream, but better."
