"You seem to care," Felix noted, words faintly sharpened by defensiveness. Though he knew that Finlay wasn't attacking -- was being rather kind to him, indeed -- Felix knew that his most vulnerable secrets had already been partially revealed. The idea of surrendering them to anyone made him want to put up a wall and lash out at anything that came too near.
