There were still no textbooks or youtube videos on how to fairy, and so Fin was still learning by doing. Sometimes he would do his best to focus on something, like reviving wilted flowers or forcing the wrinkles out of his bed sheets. Other times he'd try slightly harder things, like changing an item into another item- Something he hadn't yet mastered, but at least had a grasp on the basics now.

He played with elements, toyed with using his magic to tidy up or take notes for him. Nothing huge, nothing grand. It was a slow build after all.

Occasionally, however, he let his magic lead. It was a part of him, yes, but just as his mind was prone to wandering and building worlds for him to jot down on paper, his magic had a tendency to- Create. An extension of his imagination, he assumed, and he often let it lead as he created small items from ice, or even repainted a whole room with idle thoughts. It was remarkable, the things he could do with little more than a spare thought and a vague grasp on his powers. Will was right, he was powerful. He understood now why the other fae had feared them.

Today he was simply laying on the sofa, a pen taking notes by itself on a pad of paper nearby while he drew random patterns in the air with the tip of his finger. He was working on a pitch for a mini series, something prompted by a friend at the network, but his mind was dancing between ideas, and his magic was, for a lack of a better word, getting a bit bored it seemed. Or, perhaps he was bored and just didn't want to admit it.

The pen slowed, then stopped, and Fin closed his eyes as he sighed softly.

"Perhaps I should leave this all behind, go live in the woods on the Other Side, to be a wild thing like my kin," he mused. "You could come, if you like," he told Keats, opening one eye and looking over at the German Sheppard. The dog simply yawned though, then settled back in to finish his nap.

"No? Alright then. I'll just live alone then. Or, perhaps I'll live with Winter's pixie friends," he joked, smiling as his mind wandered to thoughts of thick forest like areas, wild flowers and strange stones. The many wonders of the world that was apparently his true home. The memories of his brief time there made his magic long for it- Or, again, perhaps it was just him. His secret desires, the needs of his blood. Whatever it was, it was powerful, and as Fin slowly got to his feet and headed for the private rooftop garden for a smoke, he felt something shift inside of him- Then outside.

It wasn't an unpleasant feeling, yes, he was suddenly small and a touch fluffy, but the sudden shift from human to fox had been painless- Pleasant, even. So much so that Fin had simply gone along with it. It was just more of his magic after all, harmless enough it seemed... At first.

Three hours later, and Fin was still a fluffed up white fox. He'd managed to get back inside the flat, but no matter what he tried, he couldn't seem to make himself human again. He was sure part of that was due to how worked up he'd gotten himself when his first attempt had failed, but now- Now he couldn't seem to calm down at all.

He'd gone looking for Will first, but the other fae was clearly out, and using a phone as a fox was a lost cause. Even if he could have dialled a number, he was struggling to speak. All he managed were some odd purrs and sharp sounds. Nothing intelligible. Clearly he would have to seek out help elsewhere. ...Perhaps Phouka and Winter might help, though they were quite a way away, and he really didn't think any Uber driver in their right mid would pick him up.

Well, a walk wouldn't be so bad. ...Not if he stayed hidden, right?

He'd barely made it three blocks before he'd been spotted, and he was currently cowering in an alley while a rather large and unpleasant man was attempting to whack him with the blunt end of a broom.

Oh, fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck,
he thought, unaware that anyone passing by with magic ability or sensitivities could hear him loud and clear.

(OTA. I was going to put this up on Thanksgiving since I'm off all day, but figured there was no harm in tossing it up early. ^_^ If you think your pup could hear Fin's magic telepathic chatter, be my guest. Or if you just want to save a fluffy fox, feel free! As always, late tags and slowtime are welcome.)

:Is this a vulpine sign of affection?: Felix asked dryly, not really believing it even as he inquired. He did his best to gentle his hand and stroke more carefully, though he felt quite out of place doing so.

Felix rather preferred a fox who acted like he expected Fin to act. The little fluffy creature was distressingly adorable, and Felix did not want to start warming up to its cuteness. Who knew what sort of disaster that might portend?

And now he had a cup of coffee to deal with as well as a... pet.

Sighing, Felix set his cup on an empty table briefly, and bent down to scoop the fox up again. He found a somewhat more comfortable hold this time, though he kept glancing away as if embarrassed. :I don't have the slightest idea what I'm doing. Warn me before I... I don't know, break you.:

Fin in one arm, coffee in the other hand, Felix set out for the sidewalk again, heading in the direction he thought he'd been going before. :My... phone does.: Which was currently in his pocket, and both of his hands were occupied. He frowned. :Do you?:

Felix took mental direction well, and was privately glad he could listen to Finlay mentally, so at least he look like he knew where he was going, even if he looked a bit mad carrying a white fox in his arms. He pointedly did not look at anyone who might be staring as he passed.

:Stay focused a bit longer. You can be as adorable as you like once we get there. There, that is your building, I believe.: Felix nodded, and made his way toward it. :Tell me you don't have a doorman I'll have to explain myself to?:

Felix followed Fin's advice, opening the building door and sweeping through the vestibule as if he owned the place. He paid the security no mind whatsoever, and made his way to the lift, tapping the buttons like he did so every day.

:I think you know you're very... cute: Felix admitted.

"Oh, come now," Felix attempted to protest out loud, but he only turned his head enough that Finlay couldn't actually lick Felix's mouth with that warm little tongue. He seemed to be trying to suppress a smile.

Blinking, Felix dug a handkerchief out of one pocket and eyed Fin the fox as he dabbed at his face. Fin certainly was... affectionate in this form. When it suited him. Felix brushed a few nearly-invisible white hairs from his jacket just as the elevator door opened. Politely, he waited for Fin to step out first before he followed.

Felix reached over Fin's head and opened the front door to the flat, since Fin mentioned it wasn't ever locked. Not that a lock would have been a deterrent to his spells.:Here we are, then. You're safe at home again. Next time you change into an animal unexpectedly, perhaps you'll consider staying put?:

Now that there was no one else to hear it, Felix changed to speaking aloud in response to Finlay's mental communication. "You realize, don't you, that I am not a Trooping Fae and therefore not submit to your authority?" he asked with amusement, taking his time to stroll into the kitchen and have a good look around before he met the fox at the icebox.

He pulled the door open and glanced inside, taking a moment to identify the requested bacon, and took it out. "You just ate not fifteen minutes ago."

Truly, Fin didn't have to try very hard to appear adorable. "It's going to be nasty, cold," Felix observed, making his way to the microwave. He wasn't stellar in the kitchen, but he could at least reheat something without exploding it.

A few seconds and a ding later, he was setting the bacon down before Fin, fully aware how much it resembled a gift offering.

"... thank you," said Felix, dubiously. He carefully crouched down to pick up the offered slice of bacon, hoping that Finlay's floors were clean. With his free hand, he gave the little fox a pet on the head that wasn't even grudging, this time.

"All right, yes, you're very cute. If that's what you were going for, you could hardly have chosen a better form."

Felix didn't realize the shift was happening until his fingers were stroking fluffy dark hair instead of fine white fur. He jerked his hand back quickly, and unbalanced somewhat, sitting back on his rump rather awkwardly. There was really no covering for it, but at least Finlay had his human-shaped vision and perhaps hadn't noticed.

"You relaxed," he pointed out, intrigued. "It wasn't focus or concentration at all."

"Cabalines do not perform that sort of magic," Felix answered, attempting a professional distance with extreme difficulty due to the fact they were both sitting on the kitchen floor. "At any rate, it wasn't me at all. I imagine it happened because you stopped thinking about it."
