Godric had been away from Area 9 and his responsibilities there longer than originally planned, but reunited with Eric after decades apart it had been tempting to avoid thinking of going back. Skyping with Isabel and Stan shortly last night had left him unable to ignore it any longer. With the approaching dawn, he had assured Isabel he would be return to Dallas by the end of the week, not convinced he'd have two lieutenants if he left them to handle things without him longer than that.

Much of his remaining time in London would be spent with Eric, but there was time still to explore and enjoy the city and its people before he left. He had no plan, simply set out from Eric's after sunset and wandered on a whim. He rode the Tube for awhile – it really was one of the best ways to people watch, and he never knew what he was going to see. He stopped in at a few interesting looking shops, even a bar or two.

There was an openness to Godric's quiet calm, which seemed to welcome conversation from those who noticed him, and when someone approached, he greeted them with a small nod and a spark of interest in his eyes.

Kersen was not in drag tonight, but playing and singing anyway, sitting at the piano after having finished a throaty rendition of "I've Got You Under My Skin." He stood, to a smattering of applause, and started to head back towards the bar - but he noticed a man standing nearby, watching him. No, not a man. A vampire. And Kersen could practically feel the power radiating off of him. ... even more than Eric. Fuck.

Kersen walked over. "Hello," he said. Not really sure what else to lead with.

"Hello," Godric answered with a serene smile for the vampire who was older than many he'd come across during this trip. "You sing beautifully. I'm glad I could hear it while in town. You must be Kersen."

[kersen]

"Thank you," Kersen said. "And... I am. Yes. And you are...?" He was finding it challenging to interact with the vampire in front of him, who looked so young and yet very clearly wasn't.

"I am Godric." He'd noticed that sort of unease before in vampires smart enough to recognize his age, and not so full of bravado to discount it immediately, and often Godric did nothing to dissuade them from it, but this time he had reason to, he felt. "Forgive me for dropping in unexpectedly. I do that sometimes." Just ask Eric, who probably still hadn't completely forgiven himself for what he saw as a lapse when it was nothing of the sort. "Anael mentioned your club to me. As did your sheriff."

"No, it's perfectly fine," said Kersen. Though he looked a bit surprised at the mention of Anael. That was certainly enough to confirm that this was no ordinary vampire. And of course, the mention of Eric as well.

"Then I am glad you came by," he said. "Would you like to speak somewhere a bit quieter?"

"If it would not be an imposition." He looked over the club, liking what he was seeing although it was secondary to the vampire who'd piqued his curiosity. "I understand if you have other responsibilities."

[kersen]

"No, not at all," Kersen said. He probably would have been going back to his office anyway. "Would you like... a drink?" he added, allowing the vampire to take that however he liked.

Alcuin looked up at the man (vampire? he still could not quite tell at first glance) and smiled at him in return.

Then he looked back to the bouncer at the Blood Diamond, where he'd just approached. "Is Eric here?" he asked politely. He certainly knew better than to come to the club without telling Eric.

The bouncer looked at him with a flicker of recognition. "No," he said. "But I imagine he'll be back. You could wait at the bar."

Alcuin hesitated. Remembering the last time he'd been in there alone. Ended up slapping a vampire... Not to mention the way they all looked at him like he was food.

"I better not," he said, and with a bit of disappointment, turned to go.

The bouncer recognized Godric immediately, and lowering his gaze respectfully had stepped aside to let him pass into the club. When Godric saw the young man making to leave, he paused and turned back to him. "No need to go. Or to sit at the bar. You can wait with me in the VIP area. I promise no one will bother you."

Alcuin looked back to the man. He hesitated visibly. "I - no, I shouldn't. Eric wouldn't - "

The bouncer snorted in amusement. "I don't think Eric will mind if you go with Godric," he said.

Alcuin looked at him, then back at Godric. "If you're certain," he said politely.

"Please. I would be glad for the company."

Of course Godric had noticed the intriguing note in the scent of the boy's blood, but he was possibly the only vampire in the club who did not think of him as potential prey. The boy was obviously special, though, perhaps special to Eric, since the bouncer obviously recognized him and he'd been ready to leave on hearing Eric wasn't available. So Godric was curious.

"When Eric arrives, I'm sure someone will let him know I am at the usual table with...?"

[alcuin]

"Alcuin," he said automatically. "I hope I did not seem rude. It's only that I've run into problems with vampires, even here, and so Eric understandably wants to know when I'm here so he can keep an eye on me."

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Alcuin." Godric's attention as they entered the club and headed for the stairs to the VIP area was entirely on Alcuin, and he paid no mind to the way the other vampires parted to let him through or subtler signs of respect they showed him. It was to be expected, and only obvious disrespect would stand out to him.

"Eric is very dear to me. I will keep an eye on you for his sake. Believe me when I tell you you will have no problems with vampires tonight."

Bonnie was walking down the street and slurping from a huge fast food store milkshake. It wasn't like she had to worry about the calories anymore. She'd planned on going out and just hanging around, maybe even having fun, but she was starting to feel anxious and paranoid, and it showed in the way she was glancing around and the tension in her shoulders.

She could tell that the other guy was a vampire, but being so young her senses weren't attuned enough to pick up on just how old he was. Still, unknown vampires tended to make her nervous, so she slowed a little and considered changing direction to avoid him. She also suddenly became very concerned that he might be judging her for drinking a milkshake. Vampires weren't supposed to drink milkshakes, were they?

When he nodded at her the only response he got was, "What?"

Oh, she was terribly young, Godric realized, and drinking something that was definitely not blood but smelled cloyingly sweet. He looked at her mildly. "Just that it is a beautiful night. Why?"

Bonnie wanted to cross her arms protectively over her chest, but she couldn't with the milkshake in one hand, so her shoulders slumped instead, making her smaller.

"It's not that nice," she said. To her it was just ordinary, and miserable.

"Learn to find joy in the night," Godric suggested gently, hoping she would take the advice to heart, but knowing the young often felt they didn't need to. "Or I fear you'll seek out the dawn far too soon."

His advice came much too close to home, and Bonnie only found it unsettling.

She eyed him suspiciously for a moment. "Who are you?"

"Godric." A name that likely meant nothing to her here, so he added, "someone who has watched others not much older than you struggle with how their lives must change."

Felix had been perusing a bookshop that evening, having nothing better to do. Rarely did he ever have something better to do than wander among books, really. This particular used and rare shop was a favorite of his, and he could get lost for a good long time.

He drifted around the end of a row and encountered a very pale-skinned man quite a bit shorter than himself. While Felix wasn't always the most observant of creatures, he was still surprised, for the man had been absolutely silent. Even faced with him now, he seemed somehow both there and not there, and Felix blinked rapidly as if needing to focus his sight. "Pardon me. I didn't see you there."

"And I did not mean to startle you." Godric's perspective had changed, but habits of a lifetime long even for a vampire were not all so easily broken, and he had not made an effort to call attention to himself while scanning the shelves.

Felix half wanted to argue that he hadn't been startled, but that wasn't really true. The man before him seemed fascinating in a way Felix could not quite define, even in his own mind. "We're both still upright," he said pleasantly, with just a flash of his best star-bright smile. "Were you looking at something interesting?"

"Nothing so interesting as what I've found now." If the man was going to invite such comments with his manner and his dress, no reason Godric shouldn't give him a truth. And most mortals were interesting for one reason or another. "I'm always curious where my nighttime strolls will take me."

The rather effervescent redhead clearly reacted very well to buttering-up, and he looked pleased as he half-turned to glance over the shelves where his new acquaintance had been looking. "Is night-time strolling a frequent pastime for you? It's rather daring, you know. All manner of unsavory creatures come out after dark," Felix suggested, with an impish glint in his strange eyes.

"Mmm... there's always the danger of being run down by a wayward wizard," Godric replied, allowing a hint of his amusement to show behind his serenity, "or meeting something far less savory."
