GP - Wild Magic 2: Chaotic Evil Boogaloo

London was a magic epicenter of sorts. Between doors to The Otherside, dormant and active portals, and an active wizarding community, it was a hub of energy, more so now than it had been for quite some time. The city was experiencing a magical renaissance of sorts- Which sounded lovely and made it a prime place to be for those exploring and studying magical energies, but wasn't so wonderful for London's more 'normal' sorts.

Magic didn't care if you were a dark lord or a banker, if it liked you, it liked you- And it was impossible to guess who it would like.

Today magic energy was at an all time high. Another blip in the usually somewhat steady stream of power that flowed through the streets. As a result, odd things were afoot- From mischievous inconveniences, to darker disruptions. Unlike the portals, these bothers were a touch more subtle, creeping up unseen on the unsuspecting.

Last time around the magic had seemed lighthearted and playful- And some of it still was, but... There was an intensity to some of it this time, harking back to the troubles that seemed to roll around every Halloween now. Something wicked was caught in the current, and while it wasn't out to harm everyone, it did seem keen to target a few.

(OTA. Just like the last time, the magic can affect your pup however you see fit. Unlike last time, however, some of the magic has taken a darker turn. It doesn't have to do something wicked to your pup, of course, but the option is there now. This post will be open from 7/18-7/28 or longer if needed. Tag in, tag others, and check back often.)

"I don't know how I feel about it," Fin admitted. "It's all a bit complicated. ...I think we need to be apart a while, but that doesn't mean it doesn't sting."

Fin knew how House felt about Will. So House considered it a great act of kindness and restraint to just remain silent at that.

Instead he just said, "Whiskey," when a server walked over.

Fin ordered himself a pint, leaning back in his seat and wrapping his arms around himself. Like this it was obvious how much weight he'd lost, and it made him look sharp and harsh in the dim light of the pub.

"How's your leg? Better? Once it's back to normal I should be able to remove the pain completely- Well, for the night. I still don't think I'm powerful enough to offer a permanent cure."

For a moment House thought he meant just generally, and was going to point out that his leg hadn't gotten better in eight years. But then realized what he meant and said, "It's better, yes. Whatever that was, was some next level shit. And I've dealt with a lot of pain."

"There's something wicked in the air," Fin replied, reaching under the table and resting a hand on House's leg. "I don't know what it is, but it's not fae, I know that."

He closed his eyes, then focused as he slowly relieved the doctor's pain for a while.

The pain slipped away, and House let out a sigh of relief.

He realized he hadn't felt this since Fin left. The complete absence of pain.

"It's good to see you."

"And you," Fin assured him, giving Greg's knee a squeeze before letting go. "I missed you. I missed London. Absence, the heart, and all that, you know?"

"I won't ask where I rank in things you missed," House said dryly. "Somewhere between proper tea and Topshop?"

Fin grinned then, perking up a bit as he rested his elbows on the table.

"I missed you plenty, sounds like you do want a ranking though. Did you miss me terribly, Greg? Shall I stay very close tonight?" he asked, a faint hint of impish glee and playful flirtation softening the curve of his lips.

Suddenly House realized that he wasn't sure he could turn down sex with Fin even if he'd wanted to. Because it wasn't just that it was Fin, it was that it was sex without pain. He wasn't sure how he felt about this. He definitely wasn't sure how Fin would feel about it. Was he an addiction? Like Vicodin?

"I... spared a thought or two for you," House confessed, and knocked back half of the whiskey that the server had brought.

Fin said nothing, he only pretended to pout a little, clearly hoping for kinder words than that. He couldn't help himself, even with that violently lusty magic under control thanks to the tattoo on his back, he still craved attention. He still wanted to be desired.

House had obviously been understating. But he saw Fin's obvious disappointment and said, "I'm remarkably good at moving on when someone leaves me. Excellent defense mechanism. Besides, I imagine you were too distracted by Will to think about me."

"I didn't leave you, I left London. ...And no, I wasn't thinking about Will, I was thinking about me," Fin replied, frowning, then falling silent.

"I... know," House said, and sighed. "It's fine, Fin. And yes, I did miss you."

Fin softened slightly at that and reached out to cover Greg's hand with his.

"Sorry, I'm a bit... Well, I'm a bit down, I suppose. It's made me a tad more touchy than usual."

"You don't have to apologize. I ah - " But he didn't finish the statement. What he was thinking of was letting a practical stranger sleep in his bed with him recently.

Fin raised a brow, waiting for Greg to continue. When he didn't, the fae took it as a chance to say something more himself.

"Let me stay with you tonight, hmm? I really don't want to be alone, and it would be nice to catch up," he requested softly. "Unless you've got plans," he added quickly, realizing he was being a bit presumptuous. "I'd understand if you did."

"No, I don't have plans," House said with a little snort. When did he ever have plans.

"Sure, come home with me." He was almost surprised that he was the one Fin wanted because he was lonely.

"Lovely," he replied.

"Let's go, I have whiskey and beer at home," House said, and pulled out his wallet.

Fin had thought they might linger a while longer, but he didn't object. If House wanted to get home, Fin wouldn't make him stay out.

"Sure, yeah- I'll pay though," he offered.

House wanted to go in part because his leg was starting to ache again... and he'd rather just get home where Fin could easily work his magic. And also...

"Whatever was going on out there," he said, jerking his thumb to the door and then hesitating before putting his wallet away again, "I'd rather not risk running into it again."

Nodding in understanding, Fin paused long enough to pay the bill before following Greg out onto the street.

It wasn't far to House's place, and Fin footed the bill for the Uber as well- Mostly because he was still feeling guilty. Guilty about leaving town, guilty about the magic in the air. ...Not that he really believed he was to blame for that, but, well, common sense meant very little when he was on one of his down swings. Guilt and misery ruled all.

Once they were at his place, House opened the door and let them in.

In standard fashion, there was both a bottle of jack daniels and an empty Chinese takeout container on the coffee table. Though slightly unusual, there were two glasses, and one had a lipstick mark on the rim.

House shrugged off his jacket and tossed it on the back of the couch. "You hungry?" he asked. "We could order something."

Fin didn't bat a lash at the lipstick stained glass, even going as far as to pick both up and take them into the kitchen to wash them out so they could be reused.

"I'm not really hungry, but don't let me stop you from eating," he smiled. He hadn't been eating much at all lately and was back to being slightly underweight.
