Halloween was as spooky or dull as you needed it to be in London. From handing out treats to those who came knocking, to attending costume parties and concerts all over the city, there was something for everyone tonight.

Plenty of bars and clubs were offering discounts to anyone bold enough to turn up in costume, and even the underground was bursting with holiday cheer as costumed commuters came and went, breaking up the dull day to day routine one usually faced while making your way from point a to point b.

Even those who chose to skip the costume were indulging in treats or maybe a creepy film or two.

There was no excuse to be bored. Not tonight. Not on Halloween.

(General Halloween GP for those who aren't keen on the haunted house! Feel free to post your pup anywhere in the city, from fancy dress parties to street corners. Go wild (or, you know, stay tame. Your call) Also, because there are two GPs going up this week, both are open to new top levels for two whole weeks! And, of course, you can keep tagging long after that if you want. :D I'll post reminders daily on slack.)

Q had no idea that later this evening he'd find himself trapped in an inescapable hell, and as a result was quite happy to play the part of Bond's plus one at the party that felt just a bit too posh for a boffin like him. He'd come dressed as a plague doctor. A morbid choice, but a good way to hide his face. Bond may have been glad to put himself on display, but Q wasn't so eager to be noticed. Not on home turf at least.

Except Bond had wandered off, and Q had found himself alone near the bar, trying to decide if a drink was worth removing his mask.

"I really hope not," he sighed, slightly paranoid that Bond's disappearance meant he was off doing something he definitely shouldn't be.

The mask prevented Milady from reading the man the way she normally would, but she would work with it. She tilted her head, thinking perhaps, cat-eyes looking out from the holes in her own lupine mask. "Hm. Plague doctors, always expecting the worst. What's Halloween without a little excitement?"

"I've had enough excitement to last a lifetime," Q assured her, falling into the calm and crisp tone he so often slipped into.

Deciding a drink was worth it, he removed his mask and pulled his glasses from his pocket to better read the menu on the bar.

"What exactly is a Screaming Orgasm? I've never had one," he murmured, pausing when he realized what he'd just said. "The drink, I mean. I... I was about to say I've had plenty of normal orgasms, but really, that's..."

He rubbed his face, then sighed. this was one of many reasons he didn't go to parties.

"Vodka, kahlua, amaretto, and Irish cream," Milady listed off, not very impressed. "Dessert in a shot glass, if you like that kind of thing. Nothing like the name would suggest, in my opinion. At least it's not a combination than curls my toes or makes me squirm and scream."

"I quite like amaretto, actually. Nothing wrong with sweets," Q replied, finally turning to look at her, and tilting his head as he realized there was something familiar about her.

"Have we met? I feel like we have."

"It's possible," Milady answered mildly, and without showing the wariness she felt. "I attend a great many events such as this. Clarice Winters." There was no reason not to give that name. She lived quite openly as the wife and then widow of the late peer, when her work, or occasionally her mood, did not require her to be someone else.

Q's brow's rose, and he didn't bother hiding it.

"I see. I don't think we've met formally then. Most people simply call me Q," he replied.

"A nickname?" she asked as though it was simply small talk while mingling at a social gathering. "Or is your given name so terrible you prefer simply an initial?"

"I like to think of it more as a title," Q replied casually, though the way he held her gaze for just a beat too long said all the things he wouldn't dare say out loud.

"I came tonight with my partner, James. He's wandered off though- Terrible habit of his. Can't take him anywhere."

Oh really, Milady thought, taking special care not to let it show. Wasn't that interesting.

"Mm. My late husband was much the same. Politics, of course, in his case. But we can't keep them on a lead, can we?"

"I'll admit I've never tried, he's not very into that sort of thing," Q replied, his boyish looks and casual tone making it very hard to tell if he meant that to be as naughty as it sounded.

"Shame." A flash of green eyes under the mask hinted at the smirk she didn't add.

"Does this mean you need to go fetch your wayward partner?"

"I'd really rather not," Q replied, frowning at the thought of Finding Bond with some tart shoved up against the wall while he seduced some vital information from her.

"You'd rather he come find you?" Milady suggested, while wondering about the frown. She knew the appeal of being sought after by someone who desired you. It made her job so much easier when they came to her. "Perhaps a pretty wolf will draw him out."

"I'd rather he wasn't mixing business with pleasure is all," Q assured her with a sigh.

"You really don't know me?" he asked after a moment. "I imagine you know my partner. Bond. James Bond," he said mimicking Bond's overly dramatic introduction fairly well.

Milady knew his title and of Bond by reputation. She wouldn't have been much good as an agent if she hadn't, and obviously Q had some thoughts to who she was. But admitting so, and in such a public place, would have been an unnecessary risk. "I"m sorry; I can't say I do. Did you know my husband? He met so many people through his work."

"I'm not sure I ever was," Q replied with a short little snort of a laugh. "Do I look the sort, really?" he asked.

And that, honestly, was one of the things he got by on. His looks. He looked young- A sexless boffin, in Bond's words. At least to anyone who couldn't see beyond the glasses and the frumpy clothes.

"Did you not bring a date then?" he asked curiously, changing the topic.

Ingenue was never Milady's favorite guise, but she had and could play it, or appreciate its analogue. Q's play at innocence didn't fool her.

"No date. Just a girl wandering the wilds alone in her blood red hood. Or perhaps a lone wolf on the prowl."
