General Halloween GP

Halloween was as spooky or dull as you needed it to be in London. From handing out treats to those who came knocking, to attending costume parties and concerts all over the city, there was something for everyone tonight.

 

Plenty of bars and clubs were offering discounts to anyone bold enough to turn up in costume, and even the underground was bursting with holiday cheer as costumed commuters came and went, breaking up the dull day to day routine one usually faced while making your way from point a to point b.

 

Even those who chose to skip the costume were indulging in treats or maybe a creepy film or two.

 

There was no excuse to be bored. Not tonight. Not on Halloween.

 

(General Halloween GP for those who aren't keen on the haunted house! Feel free to post your pup anywhere in the city, from fancy dress parties to street corners. Go wild (or, you know, stay tame. Your call) Also, because there are two GPs going up this week, both are open to new top levels for two whole weeks! And, of course, you can keep tagging long after that if you want. :D I'll post reminders daily on slack.)

Manuel actually smiled, genuinely amused for once. "Yeah," he agreed. "Don't you know about Halloween?"

Winter shook his head, moving closer and tilting his head when he felt something familiar radiating from the stranger- Though he couldn't put his finger on what.

"We don't have Halloween where I'm from," he admitted. "It's very new to me. Though I like the sweets- But maybe not the tricks so much."

Manuel, on the other hand, was much better at recognising other fae for what they were. He didn't need to ask where Winter was from; he could already tell it wasn't anywhere in the human world.

"Has anyone tricked you?" He didn't think many people actually did that, despite the night's reputation for shenanigans and mischief.

Winter curled his fingers so they looked like claws, then growled playfully.

"Just little scares," he grinned.

He couldn't help smiling back. "That's not so bad."

[winter_wisp]

"No," Winter agreed. "There are much more frightening things in the world."

[pixiesweat]

"Yeah. They're just teasing, anyway."

[winter_wisp]

"Yes, and one gave me candy after," Winter smirked, still pleased by all the sweets.

Manuel hadn't smiled so much in a long time, but he couldn't help it. Winter's good mood was infectious.

"Do you have a lot of candy?"

[winter_wisp]

Winter held up a small orange bag in show, then opened it so the other could peek inside. It was only half full, but to Winter it was more than enough. He would squirrel it away and feast while at his true height.

"That's nice," Manuel said. "Are you going to get more?"

[winter_wisp]

"If more is on offer," Winter grinned. "But first I hope to find some hot chocolate."

[pixiesweat]

"...I don't know where to find good hot chocolate around here." He spent a lot of time out in the street, but he didn't go into cafes. Or anywhere else where there was people.

"I do," Winter grinned. "Come, I'll show you."

[pixiesweat]

"What's your name?" he asked. He wouldn't usually go wandering off to get hot chocolate with a stranger, but the fact Winter was also fae was putting him more at ease.

"I am Winter, Winter Wisp," he chirped, a few strands of his hair turning silver, then quickly returning to their current brown and ginger hue.

"Who are you?"

He didn't seem to think Winter's hair changing colour was at all unusual.

"Manuel," he replied.

"You feel like kin," Winter said, reaching to touch the space between them, as though he could sense something. "You feel pixie, but you are so tall. How? Do you have a potion too?"

"No," he replied, glancing around quickly to make sure there weren't any humans around to overhear Winter using words like 'pixie'. He dropped his voice a little, then said, "I'm only part pixie."

"...Which part?" Winter whispered in return, clearly not understanding what the other man meant.

[pixiesweat]

Manuel hesitated, unsure how else to explain it. "...I mean one of my mother's parents was a pixie."

[winter_wisp]

Winter only had the barest grasp on how genetics worked, and he nodded slowly.

"You are mortal then?" he asked, still a bit puzzled as he poked Manuel's arm- As if jabbing the other creature with his finger would somehow help him understand.

Manuel didn't seem to mind being poked.

"No," he said. Though he was, technically, but he felt like mentioning that would just confuse Winter even more. "My father was. My mother wasn't."

Winter's brow creased, but after a moment a word came to him, one he'd heard the elders use while telling stories.

"Halfling?" he said.

"...yeah." Manuel had never heard that particular term before, but he could make a pretty good guess what it meant.
