Gathering Post - Christmas Eve Party

Merry Christmas!

You are invited to celebrate the season with Finlay Flynn and Willy Silver.

 

When: Christmas Eve (5pm – Midnight)

Where: Making the Modern World - The Science Museum

Upon entry you'll be given a ticket for one free drink. All drinks after that are 5 each. There will also be a free buffet in the dining area.

 

Dress code: Casual, but tidy please!

 

Raffle: Come wearing a festive sweater and you will automatically be entered into a raffle to win a 65 inch TV.

 

Donate: Bring three tins of canned food to be donated to the local food bank, and receive an extra drink ticket.

Look forward to: A live DJ, live music, an appearance by Santa, gift bags with deluxe swag, and the company of old and new friends!

 

(OTA! Happy holidays! If you know Fin, Willy, Phouka, or Winter, feel free to assume they gave you an invite. If not, you can say your pup got an invite through a friend of a friend, someone who knows someone, ect. It IS invite over (no gate crashing pups please, Fin's a giver and would want everyone to feel included), but the pups hosting the party are pretty active and I believe they know almost everyone in the game. And the people they don't know surely know people who do. Even if you only met them once, you got an invite somehow! This gathering post is open all week, and beyond!)

"Good free food is kind of a rarity," Coby agreed. Getting one or the other wasn't always too difficult, but both at once was a find. "So, do you know Fin, or...?"

Every flattened vowel, every 'me' instead of 'my', reminded Felix of his own rough accent from his younger days -- the one Malkar had trained (and beaten) out of him. He bit his tongue against correcting a total stranger on his grammar. "Social media stars have agents, now?" he asked instead, his surprise un-feigned.

"Not this time." But James would understand not wanting to be too specific. "Although we favor the tropics this time of year, and the Caribbean in general. That's where we met, you know."

Danny frowned, wishing Hex would stop paying his way. It was Christmas Eve though, and he wouldn't start a squabble over it today.

"You not have family or friends coming over tomorrow?" he asked.

"Thank you." The pleasantries were simple enough, although Victoria couldn't help her innate curiosity when it came to the doctor. "You're cutting a fine figure in this sea of Christmas jumpers."

"Good, then you'll feel right at home in Mirador House," Felix said dryly. He made the Cabalines sound unbearable because it amused him, but clearly, if he thought so poorly of them he wouldn't be on their guiding council. Or bearing their tattoos, or upholding their oaths. "Never fear, I'll introduce you to my friends, as well. Fleur and Sherbourne will take to you straightaway, I'm certain. There are a few of us who aren't withered and gray," he added with a flash of a grin.

"That's Fin's doing. Stanley is his agent and he took me on, too. Really made something of it," he replied happily.

"On work, I'm sure," he said. "Love blooms where it likes."

"No, I've got no one. I'm working noon to midnight to give some of the girls time with their families," he replied.

"Working on Christmas?" Danny replied. "Miserable, but kind of you, I suppose."

"Surprisingly not. We were each between jobs at the time." Which had made it even stranger discovering what they had in common. "I don't know about him, but I'd gotten a firm 'you're going on holiday, we've booked you into a resort, and try not to get into any trouble' lectures."

"Kind of me? Why's that?" he asked.

"And look at you, getting into trouble anyway," Bond chuckled. "What's he like? He must be a gem to earn your affection."

"...You just said it was so others could be with their families," Danny replied, giving Hex a puzzled look. "I do hope you're doing it for that reason and not because you feel socially obligated. Just because they have family doesn't mean they automatically deserve to be given the time off. You deserve it just as much, but if you want to give them the time, then that's different. That's just you being a generous soul."

Sunny knew, since after all it was not so different from the way she talked about her family. She complained constantly, but she loved them. "I should hope so, organizations die out without young blood. Much as they complain about the people who bring it."

She paused a beat. "Next time Orlu's in town," she said, "I'll have to introduce you. That isn't anything nearly so grand, but... Well, I don't know if I'd be the kind of girl who charges through a circle of reporters if he hadn't done the same for me with our classmates when we were kids."

"Oh, well...yeah. I've met Caro's babies and they deserve to have their mummy there on Christmas," he smiled. "And, really, most everyone I know are people I work with. I saw everyone else tonight, yeah? And it's always fun working Christmas. Lots of broken bones and power tool accidents," he said with a gleaming smile that was just a bit inappropriate.

"Doesn't sound very fun," Danny frowned. "What about the ones you don't save? The families who leave broken hearted, and never manage to enjoy the holidays again. That can't feel good."

"Danny, do you look for the worst?" Hex asked, his brow knitting. "You don't save everyone but I can promise if we lose then in July on on Christmas the holidays are forever ruined. That's how it is."

"It's not that I look for the worst, I just don't think I could find joy while surrounded by such sadness," Danny said honestly.

"We save more than we lose, Danny. And people need help. You never see people more weak than when they're afraid and hurting. It's a blessing to help the injured and sick."

"Maybe I'm just too sensitive for that sort of thing," Danny shrugged.

"It's not for everyone. Not A&E especially. More cut out for nursing day surgery or the peds ward, some nurses. I like it, though."

Danny hummed in understanding, slowing down when they reached Hex's.

"Sure you still want to invite me in?"

Ah, now that was certainly something. Felix was pleased to have uncovered it. "Perhaps I should consider the flow more seriously," Felix chuckled, lazy but clearly teasing. "If it produces such enticing results. How fortunate that London has provided such a reward for you. Perhaps in an attempt to get you to stay."

"Ah, Stanley the agent," Felix sighed, exaggerating his apparent impatience. "Yes, I've met him. Briefly. His social graces leave something to be desired, but Finlay seems happy with him. And he clearly produces excellent work."
