Gathering Post - Christmas Eve Party

Merry Christmas!

You are invited to celebrate the season with Finlay Flynn and Willy Silver.

 

When: Christmas Eve (5pm – Midnight)

Where: Making the Modern World - The Science Museum

Upon entry you'll be given a ticket for one free drink. All drinks after that are 5 each. There will also be a free buffet in the dining area.

 

Dress code: Casual, but tidy please!

 

Raffle: Come wearing a festive sweater and you will automatically be entered into a raffle to win a 65 inch TV.

 

Donate: Bring three tins of canned food to be donated to the local food bank, and receive an extra drink ticket.

Look forward to: A live DJ, live music, an appearance by Santa, gift bags with deluxe swag, and the company of old and new friends!

 

(OTA! Happy holidays! If you know Fin, Willy, Phouka, or Winter, feel free to assume they gave you an invite. If not, you can say your pup got an invite through a friend of a friend, someone who knows someone, ect. It IS invite over (no gate crashing pups please, Fin's a giver and would want everyone to feel included), but the pups hosting the party are pretty active and I believe they know almost everyone in the game. And the people they don't know surely know people who do. Even if you only met them once, you got an invite somehow! This gathering post is open all week, and beyond!)

Hex had a festive sweater that wasn't really Christmas, more just winter-y in his opinion. He'd come and said hello to quite a few faces he knew and spotted Stanley, asking him if he'd given the job thing a think in regards to Danny. Stanley politely but firmly told him 'no business at a Christmas party' and then said he'd call him Boxing Day.

So he circled the room saying hello. Some people knew him from his YouTube, some knew his calendar. He had a taste of fame but it was nothing like some of the actor-types Fin was friends with who had come. Hex was just a bit star struck by a few of them.

He stayed away from the bar, though. It was happy, it was festive, and it would be too easy to get a spiked nog or some wine or a bottle of vodka and then he'd be down the tubes. So he went everywhere but over there...where he wanted to be most of all.

Felix had gotten a bit side-tracked on his way back to the bar, empty-handed and very interested in trying another of those festive cocktails. People in crowds moved in absolutely incomprehensible patterns, however, and Felix found himself on the opposite side of the room just attempting to maneuver around them. He'd just reached another impassible clump of humanity, and turned aside with a brief sigh, when he nearly bumped in to a be-sweatered solid brick of a fellow he didn't recognize.

Or did he? Felix took a half-step back and blinked, tilting his head as he took in the man's face. "Pardon me," the wizard said, polite, but more familiar than a perfect stranger might have been. "Have... have we met?"

He was fair used to the look of recognition in people's eyes, as well as the blush that coloured some cheeks when they realized who he was and that he would know what they watched on YouTube. It never bothered him, his channel was for education...just a special kind.

"I don't think so mate," he said and offered his hand. "I'm Hex."

That remarkably unusual name only made the man seem more familiar. Felix accepted a shake, firm despite the delicate feel of his hand. "Felix," he replied with a faint smile. "How rare to meet a fellow terminal 'x.' I don't suppose you're... on television? In the theater, like our dear host, Mister Flynn?"

"I've got a YouTube show," he replied, not embarrassed in the least. He was really quite proud of the show and happy it had as many viewers as it did. "BDSM how to. And I've been in the papers with Fin- the paps like to say we're more than friends, but we're not. He's with Will."

Felix's eyes lit with recognition instantly, and a flare of half-scandalized delight. "Of course. How could I forget? I've seen more of you than I've seen of some of my dearest friends," he chuckled. "I have to commend you, really. You're doing a public service, especially after that awful novel and film put ideas in people's heads."

"That's exactly why we made the show, to be honest. The women at me work were going on and on about that book and I read the first one of the series and I was horrified," he said. "It's not for everyone, but for those who want to try it, they should know how, but they also need to know why. I like putting it out. There's always something to go into detail about, and we get some great questions. The only hard part is keeping it within the terms of service so we don't get banned."

A light laugh rose, startled, to Felix's lips. "I hadn't thought of that, but now it seems so very obvious. You don't want it on the sites restricted to adults, you won't have the viewership. And it's not, well... if I recall correctly, the content is specifically not prurient. Your intent is instruction." He sounded actually quite approving.

Hex wasn't sure he knew what prurient meant but he got an idea of what Felix was saying. Sexy, or porny or the like.

"Exactly. That's why everyone wears clothes. And for things like cbt we use vegetables to demonstrate cock rings and the like," he said, remarkably at ease discussing this with a stranger.

Felix was likewise at ease, knowing that Hex was familiar with the BDSM world as he was. He knew how to speak to other dominants, though certainly neither of them had taken on such a role at that moment, in public. "A friend has recently expressed an interest. I expect your viewership will increase by at least one," Felix said with a flash of a brilliant smile.

"What do you do when you're not tying up vegetables, Mister Hex?"

"Me? Oh, I'm a nurse at st. Bart's in A&E," he replied. "If anyone's recognized me there, no one's said."

Felix's brows lifted with interest. "A nurse? Remarkable. You help people for a living, not just in your free time." He tipped his head, a smile blossoming slowly on his lips. "Please, tell me more admirable details about yourself."

"Not that much more that's interesting," he chuckled. "I was a combat medic during my time in the war, came back and got me degree and now I work. I play video games when I have free time."

...And I can't find a boyfriedn, he thought but didn't add.

Jag was leaning back on a table and finishing a piece of Yule log - and wondering whether that bloke was who he thought he was. When he was caught staring, he shrugged with a small, shameless smile. "Sorry. Are you - Hex, by any chance?" He hoped that Fin had also mentioned him to Hex, and not just Hex to him, or this was about to be very awkward.

"I am," he smiled brightly. "I don't think we've met...do you know me from me show, then?" he asked. He was completely confident in his channel and was even quite proud of it. And more people here recognized him than anywhere else he'd ever been. If people recognized him at the hospital they never said.

"Sort of," Jag answered, dumping his empty cardboard plate in a bin and stepping closer. "I mean, yes. Fin said I ought to check it out. And he only had good things to say about you. I'm Jag," he added, holding his hand out for a shake. There, skipping right past the 'he thought we'd get along' bit made it less potentially awkward if he'd never mentioned him to Hex.

"Oh, Fin's mate," he smiled. It was clear he was clueless, Fin had maybe said the name but they'd had no conversations. But Hex was friendly by nature and his smile came easily. "Fin's me best mate. I'd never have what I do if it weren't for him, tell the truth."

"Have what you do?" Jag echoed, not sure what he meant by that.

"The channel, me calendar, and just...the best mate I've ever had in me life," he said. His love for Fin was clear. Not romance, no, but a deep thread of real caring.

Jag smiled at that last bit, clearly honestly happy to hear of anyone speaking of Fin that way. Bloke deserved mates like that. "So he put you up to doing the channel, did he?"

"He helped me set it all up with our manager, Stanley. We were talking one night about those awful books everyone seems to be reading and how they get so much wrong, so we came up with the idea for a how-to video and the idea took off. I never thought I'd be a vlogger but I guess I am now. I've had a lot of positive feedback and I owe Fin for giving me the push," he explained.

"He's kind of amazing, isn't he," Jag agreed with a half smile. He didn't need Fin to be his best mate to know that; it was obvious, from every time he'd met him.

"He really is. How long have you two been mates?" he asked, sipping his glass of water.

"I first met him about a year ago," Jag offered, which didn't really answer Hex's question, but he wasn't sure when Fin had gone from that decent bloke he knew to a proper mate. "Didn't see him again for months, though." After that whole blinding and kidnapping business. What a shit year for Fin.

"It's been a nightmare, too right," Hex agreed. "But he's better now, and things seem to be sorting themselves out. So do you watch me show or did Fin just mention me...?"
