Gathering Post - Christmas Eve Party

Merry Christmas!

You are invited to celebrate the season with Finlay Flynn and Willy Silver.

 

When: Christmas Eve (5pm – Midnight)

Where: Making the Modern World - The Science Museum

Upon entry you'll be given a ticket for one free drink. All drinks after that are 5 each. There will also be a free buffet in the dining area.

 

Dress code: Casual, but tidy please!

 

Raffle: Come wearing a festive sweater and you will automatically be entered into a raffle to win a 65 inch TV.

 

Donate: Bring three tins of canned food to be donated to the local food bank, and receive an extra drink ticket.

Look forward to: A live DJ, live music, an appearance by Santa, gift bags with deluxe swag, and the company of old and new friends!

 

(OTA! Happy holidays! If you know Fin, Willy, Phouka, or Winter, feel free to assume they gave you an invite. If not, you can say your pup got an invite through a friend of a friend, someone who knows someone, ect. It IS invite over (no gate crashing pups please, Fin's a giver and would want everyone to feel included), but the pups hosting the party are pretty active and I believe they know almost everyone in the game. And the people they don't know surely know people who do. Even if you only met them once, you got an invite somehow! This gathering post is open all week, and beyond!)

Felix had wondered about the love life of the self-described angel. Of course, Anael would probably answer him if he asked point-blank, but point-blank wasn't half as much fun as hinting and teasing. Not to mention speculation. Those lovely wings, after all...

"Somewhere about, being adored by Mr. Flynn's theater friends, no doubt. He's seen everything, and he has opinions, and they love him." Felix's tone was edged with fondness for his lover, as ever, but there was something new and deeper behind his feelings for Shannon, now. They were growing together, developing new intimacy Felix hadn't imagined they could share. "I can't recall, have the two of you met?"

Anael's smile bloomed warmly at the surge of feelings in Felix, such a wonderful reflection of those he had felt from Shannon when last they met. "Yes, although - you haven't told him about me, have you? He knows me as Hani." His smile was still there, and still warm. "I'm so glad things have worked out."

"Didn't I?" Felix mused. No, he wouldn't have. Felix had seen the evidence of Anael's true self during a time he preferred to keep secret from Shannon, and explaining how he'd seen the angel's wings would have opened up too many questions he'd rather not answer. "Well, your secrets are your own to share, darling, not mine. I'll remember to call you Hani should we meet you together."

Felix cast a speculative look at Anael. "Your empathy. Do you feel everything, passive, or is it directed at specific people and emotions?" Perhaps Anael had not explained his abilities in so much detail, but Felix wasn't completely oblivious to how the other man responded to feelings.

"Oh, it's only ever love," Anael answered without hesitation. He didn't mind sharing at all. "And everything wrapped up in it, which, in practice, tends to involve the entire range of emotions."

Considering that, with Felix alone, love tended to get tangled up with contrasting emotions like fear and suspicion, Anael likely wasn't exaggerating in the least. He arched one perfectly-sculpted brow, but didn't appear to be questioning him, at least. "I suppose this time of year is like intoxication for you."

"Something like it," Anael agreed, not actually certain what intoxication was like, but he could imagine. "Many holidays tend to be." They made people focus on who and what they loved.

Felix didn't like the idea of his emotions on parade for anyone, but it was practically impossible to get annoyed at Anael for any reason. Besides, the man was an empath. He couldn't exactly help what he sensed. "I'll be intoxicating the old-fashioned way," Felix said, lifting his drink for a long sip. "I'm afraid it's all a bit much for me."

It was the insincerity that rankled him the most: two or three days of peace, love, family... and then, once the hallowed dates had passed, the world reverted quickly back to selfishness and suspicion.

"What is, Christmas?" Anael asked, unsure whether he meant the holiday, or Anael's words about everything he felt. It could be difficult for men to understand; a lot of things about angels were. Coby knew this more painfully than most, how the human brain could not encompass what being an angel meant.

"And all the surrounding accoutrement," Felix agreed, perhaps just a touch sourly. As little as he liked it, Anael's power was part of him, and Felix may as well wish humanity to stop hearing or seeing him as to wish Anael did not feel him.

"Perhaps one requires some modicum of faith to appreciate it," he added, with a careless lift of one shoulder.

"Ah, but you do have faith," Anael stated warmly, remembering their first conversation. "Not in God, but... Faith."

Felix gave a small nod, because Anael was not incorrect. "But we do not celebrate my faith with a bacchanal of consumerism veiled lightly by lip service paid to the 'spirit of giving,'" Felix noted.

Consumerism was not Anael's God, although he did believe in giving. But Felix was a lot more interesting to him. "And yet, here you are," he remarked, with a slight smile.

"I'm only here for the drinks, darling," Felix was quick to assure him, turning the slender stem of his martini glass in his fingers. "Well, that, and the excuse to don velvet trousers. How often does that opportunity arise?"

"I have no idea," Anael answered honestly, with a shameless smile. Style and fashion were not things he paid much attention to.

Anael was sweet, too sweet for Felix to poke fun at, even though such seeming innocence would be an invitation for Felix to sink his teeth into anyone else. He gave a brief shake of his head. "Do you dance, angel? Come, let's soak up everyone's attention."

Anael laughed at the offer, and shook his head. "I'm afraid not. Anything else, Felix, but - I dislike dancing."

Felix paused mid-sip, brows darting up in surprise. "The angel of love doesn't like to dance? That's our favorite symbol of your favorite emotion, darling. From first infatuation to weddings and everything in between."

"One of God's little ironies, I suppose," Anael answered with a smile. This was something he had long since made peace with, unlike some other decisions of God's.

Felix tilted his head. "Do you mean that you don't simply dislike dancing, you actually can't?"

"Oh, no, I can," Anael assured him. "Not very well, I suppose, since I don't like it. But that's Their will, all the same. They made me."

Felix wondered over this briefly. "Your Creator assigned your preferences for you? Is that, we, exclusive to angels? I rather like to believe I've chosen for myself what I enjoy and don't. "

"We are agents of Their will," Anael tried to explain. "We serve Them, and you." He might be in the minority of angels with that last bit, once again. "We're a lot less... free, than you are." He smiled a little. "And I've never liked dancing. Nature over nurture, in this case, I believe." And his nature, he absolutely owed to God.

Whatever he may truly be, Felix had to admit that Anael stayed true to the Judeo-Christian specification for angels, even when it did not benefit him. Dedication to a faith was admirable, in some ways. "Ah, well. We might've made a fine spectacle." He cast Anael a sly, teasing glance. "Especially with the fanciful sweater."

Anael laughed, eyes bright. "You love the sweater."
