Gathering Post - Christmas Eve Party

Merry Christmas!

You are invited to celebrate the season with Finlay Flynn and Willy Silver.

 

When: Christmas Eve (5pm – Midnight)

Where: Making the Modern World - The Science Museum

Upon entry you'll be given a ticket for one free drink. All drinks after that are 5 each. There will also be a free buffet in the dining area.

 

Dress code: Casual, but tidy please!

 

Raffle: Come wearing a festive sweater and you will automatically be entered into a raffle to win a 65 inch TV.

 

Donate: Bring three tins of canned food to be donated to the local food bank, and receive an extra drink ticket.

Look forward to: A live DJ, live music, an appearance by Santa, gift bags with deluxe swag, and the company of old and new friends!

 

(OTA! Happy holidays! If you know Fin, Willy, Phouka, or Winter, feel free to assume they gave you an invite. If not, you can say your pup got an invite through a friend of a friend, someone who knows someone, ect. It IS invite over (no gate crashing pups please, Fin's a giver and would want everyone to feel included), but the pups hosting the party are pretty active and I believe they know almost everyone in the game. And the people they don't know surely know people who do. Even if you only met them once, you got an invite somehow! This gathering post is open all week, and beyond!)

"Are you?" Dutch tore her gaze away from Stephenson's Rocket to look at Em. "Where to?" Not that Em owed her anything, but she was curious, and she gave a shit.

"Jag's going back to the circus for a visit," and some time around people who got him, Em thought but didn't add. "It's kind of a Roma thing."

So nothing like when she went to the circus in Paris with Jamie, although at least this time she knew well enough to let Dutch know ahead of time, where she hadn't with Pyro.

"Cool," Dutch nodded, and now she was curious. "What's a Roma Christmas like?" She was guessing there were some differences, but maybe she'd be surprised.

"Depends on the Roma." Religion and local culture determined a lot of Roma celebrations, and Christmas could be highly dependent on both. "But family's at the heart of it. And forgiveness." Because their strength came from community.

"I've obviously skipped fasting today, but some do. Then Christmas day is for feasting and drinking, music and dancing."

"Sounds lively," Dutch grinned at her.

"It's not that different from what we're doing tonight," Em offered, looking around the museum space. "In broad terms. It's only the details that make it seem so."

"Please tell me the music's better," Dutch stated, warm and wry all at once. Christmas songs were not her thing, at all.

"To me... probably," Em said, thinking about it. "But I don't know if you'd agree. I'm a) pretty clueless about music, and b) kind of eclectic in what I do like."

"Guess you'll have to make me listen to some things, so we figure it out," Dutch answered with a smile. "Oh, before I forget - I ran into a friend earlier, here - he wants to meet you."

"Okay," Em said, the slight hesitation due to her usual shyness rather than not wanting to meet Dutch's friend. "A good friend?" she asked, in place of a more direct tell me about him.

"We've had fun," Dutch stated. She left it up to Em's appreciation how 'good' that made him exactly. "He runs a brothel, and he's a terrible flirt, you'll see."

A bit of color rose on Em's cheeks. Not because he ran a brothel - she wasn't the type to judge, and she didn't much care what the law said on the matter as long as everything was consensual - but at Dutch calling him a flirt. At best Em would be oblivious, although Dutch probably knew to expect that. And if not oblivious, then awkward, even knowing that's just the way he was with people and didn't have anything to do with Em in particular.

"So basically the opposite of me, is what you're saying?"

"I'm saying," Dutch said with a soft smile, and cupped Em's cheek with one hand, "even you might pick up on that, and don't be thrown by it. It's the way he is."

Em smiled back, leaning into the touch slightly. "I'm pretty good at knowing people don't mean anything by it, flirting with me."

"You're pretty terrible at knowing anyone's flirting with you, or was that just me?" Dutch answered with a smile, and leaned in for a quick kiss. Fuck anyone who might have an issue with two girls displaying some affection for each other.

Returning the kiss, Em didn't have time to feel uncomfortable about the public affection and didn't much care if someone had a problem with them both being women.

"I'm pretty terrible at knowing anybody means it," Em corrected, which was part of why she was so bad at noticing in the first place. "You just said even I'd pick up on it from him."

"I said you might," Dutch semi-agreed, with a small smile. "I just don't want you feeling uncomfortable."

Em didn't feel like she needed to say she would probably be mildly uncomfortable meeting anybody. That was to be assumed, and she was used to moving past it, although sometimes better than others. "You like him. That's what I need to know."

"He's a great guy," Dutch confirmed with a nod. And, sometimes, girl.

Em almost reminded Dutch she thought Em was pretty good too, but it would either sound like fishing for compliments - and she wouldn't - or risk an disagreement about Em's merits she didn't want. So rather than say so, she stretched up and kissed Dutch's cheek. "Is this a meet him tonight, assuming he's still around, thing? Or a meet him sometime?"

"It's a meet him tonight if you want to?" Dutch offered, then smirked. "We can have fun dodging him otherwise."

"Up to you," Em said. The grin was small, but being with Dutch usually made her smile whether she thought about it or not. "He's your friend."

"Then let's see if he's around," Dutch stated with a nod, trusting Em to have told her if she did not feel like it.

Em slipped her hand into Dutch's, lacing their fingers together. "Lead the way."

Dutch smiled at her, then looked around for Jade and then indeed led the way to him. She smiled at him when he saw them approaching, and nodded towards Em by her side as they stopped in front of him. "As promised. Em, this is Jade, Jade, Em."
