The Queen's official birthday celebrations might wait for the better, brighter weather of June, instead of the actual date just passed, but there was no lack of things to do in London this week, even if it was cooler and damper than the week before. St. George's day festivities were scattered throughout the city, competing with celebrations of the four hundredth anniversary of Shakespeare's death. Getting around the city could be even more difficult than usual on Sunday, with multiple streets closed off for the London marathon.

There were exhibits - everything from graphic design to a survey of Sicilian history to the influence of underwear. And the same level of diversity could be found whether you were in the mood for music, theatre, good food, or late night fun. There was something for everyone, and no matter your plans - or lack of plans - you never quite knew what you were going to find, or who might find you.

"All right," Eric agreed. "I'll keep that in mind." He didn't believe a word of it, but he was a very good actor.

The lights started to go down, and Winter looked up at them, eyeing them curiously before turning his gaze to the stage.

Eric settled in to watch the opera, most of his focus on it, rather than on the distracting smell of the (dangerous) pixie, as it unfolded. Until the intermission, turning to Winter as the lights came back on. "No mad song yet, but it will come."

Winter was unusually still and quiet watching with rapt attention. When the show paused for intermission, he made a sad sound, then nodded.

"May we go outside and get some air?" he asked. "This building is old and stuffy, and my eyes itch."

They actually looked a bit puffy, as though the pixie had wept- But if he had, Winter wasn't about to admit to it.

Eric watched him for a second, then stood, happy to unfold long legs. "Come on."

Winter wandered along at his side, petite enough that he held lightly onto Eric's sleeve to make sure he wasn't lost in the crowds.

The good thing about being with Eric was that most people seemed to naturally move out of his way, making it easier for Winter to keep up. Eric had no intention to let him get lost, anyway. He smelled much too good. They took a few steps outside, and he let the pixie have a few moments to himself before asking, "Feeling better?"

Winter nodded, smiling brightly.

"Yes, much, thank you," he nodded, taking off his fake glasses and tucking them into his pocket. "It is a beautiful opera so far, I'm glad I came."

"Are you ready for the truly sad bits?" Eric checked with raised eyebrows.

"Maybe after I have another drink," Winter suggested, looking hopeful, though he was in no rush to get back inside. He was enjoying the cool air quite a bit.

"Would that be wise?" Eric inquired, watching the pixie with amusement.

[winter_wisp]

"No," Winter replied with a cheeky little grin.

Eric smiled at that, approving and slightly dangerous. "Let's get you a drink."

Winter made a happy little chirping sound, all sweetness and innocence as he reached and took Eric's hand in his.

There was nothing sentimental about it, Winter was simply very tactile and affectionate once he felt at ease around someone.

Eric looked mildly perplexed, and when they reached the doors to the theatre, he took his hand back to usher Winter inside with a hand on his back. And he kept his hand to himself afterwards; he unsurprisingly wasn't much for hand holding. "The same?"

Winter didn't even seem to notice, peeping happily and nodding.

"Please, thank you," he chirped, practically bouncing.

Eric quickly enough got him another drink from the bar, holding it out to him with a smirk. Not even a little wise, no.

Winter accepted it greedily, and happily sipped away, letting the booze buzz through him, but looking up when the lights started slowly blinking.

"Oh, is it beginning again already? I'm not sure my heart is ready."

"Let's take your glass up with us," Eric offered, with another hand on the pixie's back to direct him back towards the stairs.

Winter peeped, then nodded as he followed along, Back in the box, Winter curled up happily in his seat, sipping his drink and glowing just a tiny bit.

Eric noticed while the lights were still on, and turned his head to watch the pixie. After a few seconds, he noted, "You're glowing, and the lights are about to go off."

Winter looked down at himself, then laughed, the sound almost like bells.

"Sorry," the pixie said, forcing his glow away and grinning to himself.

"Try and keep a lid on that during the performance," Eric recommanded as the lights finally dimmed.

Winter was, actually, on best behaviour. By the end of the performance he was completely engrossed, and he seemed a bit sad to see it all end.

"Can we see it again?" he asked, not sure how this really worked. He knew it was sort of like what Fin did sometimes, but was it like the cinema? Could they just line up for another ticket?

"Not tonight," Eric answered with a small smile, glad to stay where he was while the crowd left. "But I'll get you more tickets if you like. The mad song didn't disturb you?"
