"More like I was asked to leave, and this is where I came," Yves shrugged.

"Are there many options? I confess, I've only been to the Other Side once, and it was a bewildering experience. I've heard tell of Wonderland, but are there other worlds one can reach?" Felix hoped such a line of inquiry might prove safer.

[yves]

"No sane person would want to go to Wonderland, as for other worlds, I've heard tell that there are others, but never known anyone who'd actually been," Yves shrugged.

[harrowgate]

Felix looked almost wistful, over his cup. "I can barely imagine. We don't even know everything about our world, and there are others to learn from. I'm never going to live long enough to learn everything I want to."

"I'm sure if you made a wish, to the right set of ears, you could have several lifetimes to learn as much as one mind can," Yves said casually.

[harrowgate]

Felix lifted those odd eyes to him, steadily. "Or I could live well past my natural life span on the magic contained in the terror and pain of others. I know quite well where that leads. My colleagues banned the practice, naturally, but I wasn't raised Cabaline."

[yves]

"Not an offer, just an idea," Yves shrugged.

He didn't grant wishes very often any more.

[harrowgate]

"My dear doctor, I'm certain that when you're making me an offer, I'll recognize it instantly," Felix promised him in a lilting purr.

Yves wondered if he'd recognize a threat as well, but only smiled and nodded once.
