Gathering Post - Christmas Eve Party

Merry Christmas!

You are invited to celebrate the season with Finlay Flynn and Willy Silver.

 

When: Christmas Eve (5pm – Midnight)

Where: Making the Modern World - The Science Museum

Upon entry you'll be given a ticket for one free drink. All drinks after that are 5 each. There will also be a free buffet in the dining area.

 

Dress code: Casual, but tidy please!

 

Raffle: Come wearing a festive sweater and you will automatically be entered into a raffle to win a 65 inch TV.

 

Donate: Bring three tins of canned food to be donated to the local food bank, and receive an extra drink ticket.

Look forward to: A live DJ, live music, an appearance by Santa, gift bags with deluxe swag, and the company of old and new friends!

 

(OTA! Happy holidays! If you know Fin, Willy, Phouka, or Winter, feel free to assume they gave you an invite. If not, you can say your pup got an invite through a friend of a friend, someone who knows someone, ect. It IS invite over (no gate crashing pups please, Fin's a giver and would want everyone to feel included), but the pups hosting the party are pretty active and I believe they know almost everyone in the game. And the people they don't know surely know people who do. Even if you only met them once, you got an invite somehow! This gathering post is open all week, and beyond!)

"Sorry I'm late," Em said, grinning as she came up beside Dutch. "Nice sweater. Very festive."

Dutch grinned back at her. "I wouldn't turn down one more wide screen. Everything all right?" she asked, after leaning in to peck Emma's cheek. She was late; you never knew.

"Yeah, I just had to wait for Ollie to get back before I left." Since Jag was supposed to be here with Val, and Jake was... somewhere. He'd told Em, she was sure, but she'd been finishing up a painting at the time and only half listened to what he was saying.

"He spending the evening alone, then?" Dutch asked, tilting her head to the side.

"He's doing his celebrating Christmas day." Em had said she'd stay in, do some cooking. "And he's got a piece to finish before then, that's been giving him fits. Probably best for everybody he's alone while he's working."

"Still, we should sneak some cake out for him when we go," Dutch offered with a glint in her eyes. "Christmas spirit and all."

"There's an entire bûche de Noël in the kitchen, if he hasn't helped himself already." Which Ollie or the other could do whenever; she'd made it for all of them. "Gotta keep at least one tradition alive," she said, shrugging, then followed with a mischievous grin, "But we could sneak him something anyway. Christmas spirit and all."

"My thoughts exactly," Dutch replied with a grin, and fished a small wrapped gift out of her pocket. "Here. Christmas spirit and all."

Inside it was a silver pendant representing the Fool, given what Em had told her of how she viewed herself. And Dutch liked what she had explained about the Fool, as it turned out.

"You didn't have to," The words were practically habit, although she meant them, and it didn't stop her from carefully peeling back the paper to see what was inside. She had something for Dutch, back at the squat, both because she didn't think they needed to keep up with it at a party, and she hadn't been entirely sure they were going to do gifts at all.

"It's beautiful," she said, tracing the pendant's curves with a finger. "Thank you. You realize now you need to put it on for me, right?"

"Oh, the hassle," Dutch assured her with a sigh, then grinned, and reached out to take the pendant from her, and move behind her. "Hold your hair up for me?"

Em turned to make it easier for Dutch, lifting her hair on her wrist to twist around her hand and out of the way. "Your present's back at my place. Easier than keeping up with it here all night."

"Keeping up with it?" Dutch echoed, taking her sweet time sliding the pendant into place and latching it on her nape. She gave the side of her neck a soft kiss while she was at it, simply because she could. "Did you get me a puppy?"

"Never." Green eyes flashed from under long lashes as Em glanced up at Dutch. "You're going to be a granny with a house full of cats, remember? And I'm not telling. That would ruin the surprise."

Well, that look just made Dutch want to kiss her somewhere else than her neck, but instead, Dutch behaved and walked back around Emma to face her. "A child. On crack," she kept on guessing, eyes narrowed playfully at Emma.

Rather than answer - because she wasn't telling - Em gave a noncommittal hum, biting at her bottom lip as she smiled. "Did you want a child on crack for Christmas? You could always ask Santa, if so.."

Dutch grinned, reaching out to stroke a soft, ringed thumb over the lip Emma had just bitten. "I think I spotted him around the place earlier..."

Her smile softened at Dutch's touch. "Could be. You never know what jolly old elves might be hanging around." Elves, pixies, fae, you name it.

"Please tell me elves aren't real too," Dutch stated with a frown and a laugh.

"Elves? No idea." Em know how Dutch felt, though, with all the non-humans she'd met recently, and at least Em was used to mutants, who were different in their own ways. "But there are more things in heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy."

"No, no, if we're talking elves, don't you have to go with Oberon and Titania?" Dutch pointed out, and smiled. "Come on. I need a top up, and you need a drink."

"Who says we're only talking about elves?" Em grinned back slyly. "Besides, I'm not sure invoking the Fair Folk is wise. Drinks, on the other hand, a very wise decision."

"Always," Dutch agreed with a grin, and snatched her hand to draw her in the direction of the bar. "And they've got an amazing-looking buffet. I was waiting for you to eat."

Em gave Dutch's hand a light squeeze as they started through the gallery toward the bar. "I'm rarely going to turn down free food, or better company. Now I feel even worse for being late."

"Don't, it gave me time to check out some of this stuff, and run into a couple of friends I didn't expect to see here," Dutch replied. She couldn't believe she'd just described Q as a friend, but honestly, it was a lot easier than trying to come up with an apt description.

"I could count the number of people I expected to know here on one hand, and about half of them I don't know well at all." She'd seen several more familiar faces than that, but it was still a lot of people she didn't know. "I'm glad you got a chance catch up."
