Gathering Post - Christmas Eve Party

Merry Christmas!

You are invited to celebrate the season with Finlay Flynn and Willy Silver.

 

When: Christmas Eve (5pm – Midnight)

Where: Making the Modern World - The Science Museum

Upon entry you'll be given a ticket for one free drink. All drinks after that are 5 each. There will also be a free buffet in the dining area.

 

Dress code: Casual, but tidy please!

 

Raffle: Come wearing a festive sweater and you will automatically be entered into a raffle to win a 65 inch TV.

 

Donate: Bring three tins of canned food to be donated to the local food bank, and receive an extra drink ticket.

Look forward to: A live DJ, live music, an appearance by Santa, gift bags with deluxe swag, and the company of old and new friends!

 

(OTA! Happy holidays! If you know Fin, Willy, Phouka, or Winter, feel free to assume they gave you an invite. If not, you can say your pup got an invite through a friend of a friend, someone who knows someone, ect. It IS invite over (no gate crashing pups please, Fin's a giver and would want everyone to feel included), but the pups hosting the party are pretty active and I believe they know almost everyone in the game. And the people they don't know surely know people who do. Even if you only met them once, you got an invite somehow! This gathering post is open all week, and beyond!)

"That I'm actually not guilty of," Q laughed, shaking his head. "I have a few and they're terribly handy. Thought you could make good use of one too."

"Oh, I will," Dutch assured him with a grin. After she double, triple, quadruple-checked it, because she was a paranoid bitch, and he was a spook. Then her smile turned more genuine. "Thank you, Q. Let me buy you a drink," she added, and hooked her hand in his arm to draw him towards the bar.

"Well, if you insist," Q shrugged, not one to turn down a drink if it was on offer. "So which of the hosts invited you?" he asked curiously.

"I'm disappointed you didn't find out for yourself ahead of time," Dutch stated, grinning easily. "It wasn't either of them, actually. A friend of Fin's. We go back a bit."

"Same, actually. My friend Hex extended an invitation to myself and James," Q smiled, scanning the room to see if he could see wither man at the moment.

"Wait," Dutch laughed, and stopped to look at him - by the end of the bar, waiting for a server to notice them. "James is here? And you're friends with Hex? This world is way too small. Show me him! James, obviously."

"Hex and I have a very... Special relationship," Q said, smirking to himself, then nodding as he turned them around and scanned the room.

"There, that's my James. The blonde flirting with those two women."

"Wow, that man defines ruggedly handsome," Dutch stated with raised eyebrows, and then a smile, as she turned back to Q. "So you're fine with his flirting and he's fine with your very special relationship?" she asked, smile turning into a teasing grin - and obviously, that was when a bartender decided to interrupt. "What are you having? I'll have some champagne," she added, for the bartender's benefit, pulling a tenner out of her pocket.

"Oh, um, same I think," Q nodded, his gaze lingering on Bond a few moments longer, then returning to Dutch.

"Telling Bond not to flirt is like asking a fish to stop swimming. As for my friendship with Hex... He's actually quite involved with that these days. They've become friends as well, actually."

Dutch nodded at the bartended and handed them the note, then turned back to Q, an elbow on the bar. "That sounds pretty fantastic." The truth and the love there. Hey, they could be spooks and have proper feelings, it turned out.

"We make it work," Q nodded, smiling softly. "I should introduce you. ...You'd hate him," he chuckled.

Dutch laughed at that, very willing to believe that. "Maybe I'll go introduce myself. Cheers," she added, to the bartender who set their drinks down.

Q picked up his own, then smiled as he sipped at the bubbly drink.

"So who did you come with then, hmm?" he asked curiously.

"A friend," Dutch replied, with a warm smile at the thought of Emma. "A good friend. She isn't here yet, but if you run into a gorgeous American redhead who has no idea how beautiful she is, then it might well be her."

"That's terribly specific, but I'll keep it in mind," Q smiled. "You sound smitten."

"Let's wait and see if we last six months before using words like that, shall we?" Dutch replied with a grin, as if it was a terrible word. The grin belied that, obviously. She was absolutely smitten, and it was wonderful.

"Don't think there's a time limit on being smitten, but alright," Q teased with a smirk.

"Other way 'round," Dutch remarked. "Is it real if it doesn't last?" But she was just messing around, since she clearly didn't mind being called that. "So," she stepped away from the bar to let others have at it, and waited for him to join her. "How are things?"

"Miserable," Q said honestly, finding an empty table and taking a seat. "Worse for James than me, but- Work's become quite the nightmare recently."

"What you'd mentioned last time?" Dutch asked, eyebrows raised as she watched his face. Gone were the easy, teasing smiles, for now.

Q nodded, sipping his drink and glancing over at Bond. "Things are starting to change, not for the better."

"You wanna find a quiet corner and tell me more about it?" Dutch asked, a genuine question rather than an offer. She was not certain that Q did want to tell her much more.

She certainly wouldn't tell herself much more, in his place. Then again, without knowing the exact situation, how could she know.

"Even if I could, I wouldn't at a Christmas party," Q smiled. "It'll be fine, I'm sure- James will think of something to set things right. He likes to play the hero."

"I'm sure he does," Dutch answered, not bothering to hide her scepticism. From what Q had told her, their issues were unlikely to be fixable in any way a double-0 could help. Q stood a much better chance of it.

Then again, it wasn't as if she knew what had happened since last time.

"I will tell you he's not keen on our new boss. ...Though neither am I to be honest," Q frowned. "Smug bastard. Always 'stopping by' my lab."
