Gathering Post - Christmas Eve Party

Merry Christmas!

You are invited to celebrate the season with Finlay Flynn and Willy Silver.

 

When: Christmas Eve (5pm – Midnight)

Where: Making the Modern World - The Science Museum

Upon entry you'll be given a ticket for one free drink. All drinks after that are 5 each. There will also be a free buffet in the dining area.

 

Dress code: Casual, but tidy please!

 

Raffle: Come wearing a festive sweater and you will automatically be entered into a raffle to win a 65 inch TV.

 

Donate: Bring three tins of canned food to be donated to the local food bank, and receive an extra drink ticket.

Look forward to: A live DJ, live music, an appearance by Santa, gift bags with deluxe swag, and the company of old and new friends!

 

(OTA! Happy holidays! If you know Fin, Willy, Phouka, or Winter, feel free to assume they gave you an invite. If not, you can say your pup got an invite through a friend of a friend, someone who knows someone, ect. It IS invite over (no gate crashing pups please, Fin's a giver and would want everyone to feel included), but the pups hosting the party are pretty active and I believe they know almost everyone in the game. And the people they don't know surely know people who do. Even if you only met them once, you got an invite somehow! This gathering post is open all week, and beyond!)

Hex had had a dance with Spencer and made a date for Boxing Day, then had been called over by Stanley. That put him near the bar where he spied Danny and when Stanley was done with him he made his way over.

"Danny, mate, I'm so glad you came," he said warmly. "Are you having a good time? Did you get your gift bag yet?"

"Oh, um, I didn't go looking for one," Danny admitted, still a bit shaken by his encounter with Mr. Bond. "I was actually just thinking I should get going..."

"Don't go yet. Let's go get your bag. Are you not having a good time?" Hex asked.

Danny looked uneasy, but nodded, taking hold of Hex's arm as an excuse to stand closer and speak softer.

"Your friend, the one you spoke to about me- Was his name James?"

[just_hex]

"No...but that's his boyfriends name. James Bond, did you meet him?" Hex asked. He knew Q and James were here, he just hadn't made rounds completely.

"I did- And I don't think he wants to help me, Hex. ...I think I better go," Danny said quietly.

It took him just a moment to register Danny's fear and what he knew of Bond. He grabbed Danny to stop him.

"Oh my god, Danny, did he threaten you? What did he say?"

If the government had set Bond on Danny the man didn't stand a chance.

"No. ...Maybe? I don't know," Danny said awkwardly, looking nervous.

"He can be intense, but Danny...I can't believe he'd do anything. He's just...he's different," he said, trying to convince him it was probably nothing.

Still...Bond was a double o. An assassin. Hex thought he should talk to Q again.

"Here's the bags. Let's find your name," he said then, hoping to distract Danny.

Danny nodded, but couldn't help but think Hex was being naive.

Taking his bag, he peeked inside, then frowned.

"This can't be mine," he said, holding it out to Hex. "There's a phone in there. ...Expensive one."

"That's right. Everyone gets one, and a case and iTunes cards. A few other really nice things. Fin and Will went all out," he explained.

"...This is so expensive though. They don't know me. I can't accept this," Danny said quietly.

"Danny, it's a gift. Willy's so excited for everyone to have a gift. Please take it. It's Christmas, " he said. "Everyone gets the same..."

Danny hesitated, then nodded.

"I really could use a new phone," he admitted, pulling out his old beat up looking Nokia and looking at it.

"Then it's all settled. If you want to say thanks, Fin's that one and that bloke over there with the huge afro is Will. You want me to introduce you?" Hex offered.

"No. No, I'll send them a letter of thanks," Danny said, not wanting to meet them while he was still feeling so shaken. "I still might leave, actually. I'm not- I'm not feeling very festive."

"Would you like me to see you home?" Hex asked gently. "I'm happy to. Let me grab me coat and bag..."

Before Danny could say no he bolted to the table where his things were. He didn't say any goodbyes, only returned to Danny's side.

"Let's go."

Danny looked startled, but he didn't say no. Honestly, he felt safer with someone walking home with him.

"Oh, cheers. ...Are you sure though?" Danny asked.

"Absolutely. To be honest I'm not sure how many more times I can turn down free drinks," he said. Said it lightly, but with Hex's addiction it was anything but light. This gave him an excellent out.

As they walked out he didn't think to look back and see if Spencer saw him leaving with someone else.

Out on the street Hex went to hail a cab.

"So what did James do?" he asked. "That's clearly what's got you on edge. What did he say, Danny?"

"Nothing. It's nothing. Let's not ruin Christmas talking about that," Danny said softly, shaking his head and pulling out his cigarettes. "Come on, let's enjoy the night air and walk home."

Well it was most definitely something and if Dany didn't want to talk about it then Hex was going to make a point of talking to James. The man couldn't be frightening people like that, and he shouldn't take it out on Danny if he was upset about what Hex had done to Q in the men's room.

He zipped up his coat and with his gift bag dangling from his wrist, he plunged his hands into his pockets.

"All right," he said. "It'll be nice to walk. Clear our heads."

"Yeah," Danny nodded, hooking his arm through Hex's and walking along at his side. "I am pleased that you invited me you know. I don't want you to think I had a rotten time."

"Oh good. Don't let James ruin it all for you. Fin and Will wanted everyone to have a good time," he said. "I'm going to have to bring you round to their place so you can meet them, proper. They're great people. Wills wonderful and Fin's me best mate. Best I've ever had," he said.

"Yeah? I didn't get a chance to say hello, but I'm sure he's lovely if he's your best friend," Fin smiled. "You're a good bloke, I can't imagine you liking the bad sort."

"I used to, but I got out of that. The army really turned me around, and just after I got sober I met Ace and traveling was brilliant," he said. "I'm a new man, now, Danny. And if I can turn me own life around, anyone can."
